Mozilla 1.7.5 is the current, official version of the Mozilla Suite. Mozilla 1.8 Alpha5 is the next version of the Mozilla Suite. It stands to reason that v1.8, when officially released, will be "better" than v1.7.5.

If you want to know what the difference is, read What's New in Mozilla 1.8 Alpha. Those would be changes and additions made since Mozilla 1.7.5.

Oh, and... Firefox all the way.
