None of us even said that. Personally, if I can help it, I'd rather tinker with software based tools first before messing around with the hardware, which, as you may know, is very easy to destroy. Particularly so when flashing firmware.
I'm just offering what I think to be a better alternative. If it doesn't work, which I highly doubt, then by all means go the firmware route. Don't forget, that when you update firmware or any program for that instance, there's always the small chance that it could cause more harm then good ;)
Re: Changing your DVD players region more than 5 times?
when i started flashing my dvd drives with rip lock & RPC1...
it was only my second or third time ever messing with firmwares
first time ever in DOS....think i wasnt worried?
after i found out how easy it is NOT to screw up....
that has become my recommendation
no need to load a program, waste the resources
(which some ppl cant spare, no matter how little)
and the dangerous bros have tested and proven firmwares
if you wanna live dangerously, they have betas as well :P
but if i didnt trust their fws, i wouldnt have recommended em ;)
(as i am sure Viv wouldnt have either)

Not straigt to the point, but,
what if you use AnyDVD, it wont fix it, but it could help in a given case.
Or not?
