this was just using a dry cloth to buff it up a bit

there was no wd40 left so i just tried the water  . a little better than air, but  anyway

i soaked the cloth in coke and started scrubbing, after about 20 seconds there seemed to be a difference. i was kinda intrigued and scrubbed more but nothing happened. i lay a coke soaked cloth around the area for a few minutesand watched nieghbours. then back to scrubbing for a few minutes but there was very little further effect.
verdict: little doubt coke is effective in attacking rust but i think i'll stick to brasso when i can find it
Use the coke and scrub with tin foil ;)
i'll try that. i checked the wheel about an hour ago and it still looks wet even though it isn't
i would have used brillo pads but we don't have any of those either
i have also decided my macro lense is the shiznit. tonight i might try the steak thing and the grease thing too
almost forgot. the nail didn't dissappear, it flaked a bit but its as strong as ever
