Re: New Hardware on same PC
ok.
For memory, i get this on belarc....
512 Megabytes Installed Memory
Slot 'CHANNEL A DIMM 0' has 256 MB
Slot 'CHANNEL B DIMM 0' has 256 MB
Slot 'CHANNEL A DIMM 1' is Empty
Slot 'CHANNEL B DIMM 1' is Empty
But I don't know what this means... can someone either explain or show me an example on ebuyer, whichever's easier.
Re: New Hardware on same PC
means that your motherboard has a total of 4 slots for memory.
There is a 256mb stick\card\whatever you want to call it of memory (or RAM) in the first slot, and the same in the second slot.
Also says that the 3rd and 4th slot are empty.
If you are trying to buy more memory then you need to find out in belarc whether it is "DDR (or DDR SDRAM)" or just plain "SDRAM".
Re: New Hardware on same PC
belarc doesn't say which one it is.
Is there another programme that does?
edit: found on http://www.computer-memory-store.com test;
Maximum Memory: 2.0 GB (PC3200)/4.0 GB (PC2700)
Memory Expansion Slots: 4 sockets (2 banks of 2)
Additional Notes: PC2700/PC3200 DDR SDRAM DIMMs.
Dual-channel memory sockets
and also
http://pcprogress.com/viking/main.as...69195193052291
on another site.
Interpretations for a newbie would be appreciated. I also found my order confirmation from Dell which includes "512MB (2 x 256) Dual Channel DDR400"
Re: New Hardware on same PC
Re: New Hardware on same PC
virtualbody's link gives me;
Memory Bus Type: Dual DDR SDRAM
Memory Slots; DRAM Slot #1 512MB (DDR SDRAM)
Everything keeps giving me different results
edit: in the benchmark memory read test it says Dual PC3200 DDR
and in overclock section it says I have 2 x 256 PC3200 DDR SDRAM
I'm so confused
Re: New Hardware on same PC
try looking inside the case lol.
See if there's two sticks or one.
Re: New Hardware on same PC
Looks to me that you have 2 sticks of 256 MB of PC3200 DDR RAM, running in dual channel mode.
Why do you want to upgrade the memory anyway? Are you running into low free memory problems?
