Re: Dvd Players (with divx support)
You know... I've been thinking a lot about it.
My ps2 just recently bit the death trap, so I might just softmod an xbox. I would imagine that the Xbox media center would do a better job playing divx and ogm files (I have a lot of those and I havn't found a dvd player that supports them and not just ogg)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......decisions decisions.
To go with the xbox and also buy a hard drive to go with it... although I believe I can stream video to it from my home network...I believe
Or
Go with the Philips...

Xbox plays everything the phillips does, the quality on the xbox is amazing but ofcourse it wont be as good as say a £500 dvd player. It does the job very well, and with it having a hard drive means you dont have to even burn those divx/xvid movies, you can connect your xbox to your pc and network them over.
Re: Dvd Players (with divx support)
NikkiD has a good one, but I cannot remember which one she has.
Re: Dvd Players (with divx support)
Mine's the Phillips - plays most of what I throw at it. It doesn't support wmv, mkv, or ogm, but it does support divx, xvid, mp3, and is region free for dvd playback, so PAL, NTSC, doesn't matter. The only issue I've had with xvid is with playing movies encoded with qpel encoding - a few scene rips - but those can be re-encoded, or, most of the time, redownloaded from another ripping group.
It was $70CDN (~$60USD).
Edit: For divx/xvid support, you're looking for a player that supports mpeg4.
