Do you actually think win98 & 95 could crash If I'm only using word??!

Yes. If you remember Windows 9X then you remember it used to crash at random times when running the simplest programs.

I'm certainly a bit too much of a perfectionist, but do you know if something like a light version of winxp exists?

Windows 2000 Professional perhaps?
