i've got a panasonic and its recording quality is great. vhs-to-dvd recordings look okay, but its recordings from digital satellite look fantastic. you could prolly get better quality with a pc if you get an expensive capture card and you're willing to spend a long time encoding and figuring out the proper settings... but for simple "record a disc and play it" use, panasonic's difficult to beat.
I've been reading reviews on the ilo and it got some good feeback. The only thing I see thats a drawback is it can only record on dvd+ which are still costly
hmm maybe I should just buy a reg dvd tell the HD come down in price :unsure:

I just got the ilo dvd recoder and it rawks...for a low end player it works great...I burned a VHS movie to DVD with no problem...even sets up a menu and other stuff on the new dvd disc. purty kool.
i guess it was a good buy then
