I created 3 lists for PG2 to block these:
64.124.145.*
38.100.25.*
38.100.26.*
(edit): This is in addition to enabling gov, p2p, and spy lists(/edit)
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
not only do I use peerguardian but I have Zonealarm(firewall) bloking all the bad guys. also if you download off of private sites disable you DHT settings as this alows people to connect to your IP when downloading. When DHT is disabled it does not show your IP to others!!
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I never use it, im not that paranoid when sharing things the torrent way..

What are you talking about?? Even with DHT disabled, everyone can get everyone else's IP address without even connecting to them.. All someone has to do is connect to the tracker and they get the entire swarm's IPs.......... Peerguardian wont even help you in that situation cause they didnt even connect to you. :(
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I use PG2 and have no troubles... with speed and such

I here what you are saying here but for criminal purposes just being there does not make you guilty. They then have to collect evidence, if they recieve any part of a file from you then you can be guilty of trafficking or piracy. The only way they can get this is for you to allow the connection and actually send them a piece of the file as if they were your friendly peer. The blockers should block this type thing in theory.
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I use both Pg2 and PW. Very nice programs. Started using after I got 4 letters from my isp saying that mpaa flagged me.
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I use Peer Guardian and also BLOCKLIST MANAGER (Done by the same guys that do PROTOWALL but i coudnt get protowall working for some reason)
It blocks like 6 addresses a SECOND now!
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I don't use any type of IP blocking tools, apart from ocasinally using a web proxy to visit any sites I think might be dodgy.

The actual address was incorporated from BLOCKLIST MANANGER
and its called IANA PRIVATE USE (shrugs)
Maybe if u google itll tell u more but the sheer fact theyre all OVER my computer im happy to blockem
It also blocks Microsoft quite a few times per day too
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I only use the IP blocklist in my torrent client.
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I have started using PG2 and the majority of the blocked IPs seem to be SAFEnet and DONet. I do get the occasional Big 4 ip blocked as well. Still working on how to import block lists from other places to increase the security, but if it your time it is your time and no ammount of programs are going to protect ya from THE MAN.

download BLOCKLIST MANAGER (Google it)
Once its downloaded all the latest updates set the file wherever u like and set PG2 to that location
its easy
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
Same here, I only use it in my torrent client (Azureus) SafePeer plugin
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
On occasions, I do use it. Some files are corrupted in P2Ps like Limewire, and if you turn on PeerGuardian, you can download the files without corruption :D So, yupp - that's when I use an IP blocking tool.

Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
i feel not safe without peerguardian...:)
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I just use ipfilter in uTorrent. I used to have PG2, but I don't bother now.
Re: PeerGuardian or Without?
I don't, but should I
Does it impact the sharing in anyway? Like limit the speed or anything?
