Oh, Monkey Island, how could I forget that one?
you installed the original version and just had a crack at it? there are prolly unofficial mods you could look for, to pretty-up the graphics a lil bit. perhaps not overhaul it completely (although there might be something like that...), but at least make it look cleaner/sharper & more pleasing.
i played around with some 3D-acceleration mod of wolf3D a few years ago. a mod that rendered the graphics in openGL. no doubt, it still looked very much like wolf3D and the characters were still 2D sprites, but the mazes looked significantly sharper & more 3D-ish (compared with what we've grown accustomed to).
Duke Nukem 3D. Especially loved it when i typed DNSTUFF and DNKROY :D
Doom on a Pentium MMX 166 MHz then Quake and after that Quake2 online with a £350 a quater phone bill to boot.
Wolfenstein 3D, the one and only truly scary game, that got you brain damage after few hours of playing.
Sof
Start with:
HALO I & II (replay @t X360)
Perfect Dark Zero (X360)
Quake 4 & II (X360)
...games never end :|
quake qball mod on mplayer. I still havent found anything that gives me the same rush. ffa in house or 1v1 in macarena were awsome. although i went on to other games like q3 and cs, quake still my favorite. there is nothing like bouncing people off the floor with the rockets and putting the next ones were the about to land launching them miles into the air or using the lightning gun to hold up people in the air for 5 seconds. My favorite levels were house, uv, and slipgate. Anyone else from mplayer?
Unreal Tournament. My first and favorite, though I spend all my time playing cs source at the moment. I'm not exactly cal i, but i do love the game.
First FPS that got me started off was probally GoldenEye, But I don't think thats considered as FPS...
Wolfenstein 3D.
The first for me was cs and the original rainbowsix online
but ive played delta force, wolfenstein, ut,ut2k4, sof2, all the battlefields, css, quake 3 and 4 and so on.....
Quake 3
Doom!
Pretty good :)
doom here too
Rainbow six: 3 on XBL
then halo (and 2)
now CS:S cant stop palying it! hehe
what's this xbl stuff?
and as for golden eye for the 64... it was good? how? i've never played it, but member it getting crazy good reviews. how is it better than other fps' out at that time or is it the fact that that was the only fps on the 64 at that time? either way, i don't have the skillz to use a controller for my fps'. i need kb & mouse thank u.
Goldeneye and it's sequal Perfect Dark are two of the best games ever made, and the both rank in the top 5 FPS's ever made. They were light years ahead of there time and are still extreamly enjoyable to play now, dispite the obvious graphical advances in more modern games.
Duke Nukem 3D OR DELTA FORCE I can't remember
Catacomb Abyss!

And then of course Wolfenstein 3D, even bought a new computer with a bunch of RAM just to make bigger maps in the editor :D Crashed a damn 486 DX4 100MHZ with it, but it was fun while it lasted.

I'm actually still looking for this game.
Lets see, um Doom, Killing time for 3DO.
Goldeneye was the first fps that i really, really enjoyed.
Then I got Halo and Counter Strike.. :)
halo for the pc or console? are there even any differences between the two? i've have and have played halo on the pc and i like it. i'll have to reinstall it sometime so i can beat. a format killed the flow. hum, as do they always. i liked the ai in halo. thought they were semi smart and funny.
Doom - shareware version (DOS). Started it all for me...
Definitely DOOM 95.
maybe i'm gay, but i just didnt' like doom back in the day. thought the grafx were horrible and the gameplay was terrible also. i was solely a console gamer back in that time. snes owned it overall imo.
cs 1.6 :D
single player: Doom 1 (with all those crazy wads)
multiplayer: Doom 2 (BFG behind the wall trick!)
America's Army got me started on FPS.
Wolfenstein 3D but DOOM was the game that i was into the most at the time :D
Goldeneye on N64
Max Payne. I still play it once a while . might have completed it atleast 10-12 times by now :D
EDIT: Oops I thought General Shooter games . For FPS, it should be MoHAA.
my first real taste of FPS was bond on the n64 (was blown away by the control system, it just felt right) now fps is pretty much the only games i play.
apart from console games.
Duke Nukem 3D baby....kick butt and chew some bubblegum....im all outta gum lol
halflife
