I usually donate once, soon after membership, if the site is very important to me, it's my way of telling staff there that I care about the site and showing some appreciation for the effort they put in to make the site available to us.
So I've donated to about 7-8 trackers in total.
Personally I think there is little wisdom in sayings like "Never Pay for FileSharing". I'm more than happy to occasionally donate to a tracker as a way of telling the people who run the site that I appreciate the work it takes to make a site of this or that quality available.
Some sites I would be lost without and it's those that I've donated to.
Contribute when I can for sure... Regularly with my bread and butter sites ;)

They are usually of big amount ranging from 15-25/30 USD.
Of course , If I sit around the table .... I do not pay ?

Yeah, it's impossible to donate to all trackers but people should donate to the ones they use the most to help with the server costs.
fully agree with you but adding only to donate to those sites which do not give any extra priviliges for donators. Donating for such sites is indeed donation as you are paying to contribute towards the community there. I give you example of Torrentbytes.net... they just don't give you anytihg extra for the donation but just a star against your username and that is it... no upload credit or unlimited downloads etc etc. So donating for such a site is a donation in real sense else it is just payments for extra features-don't call them donations.Quote:

1% of my members donate on a month by month basis.
70% of them donate a lot less than the £5
30% of those donate less than 1 Dollar
15% of those donate 50cents or less.
I get lots of donations for 25pence
guess how much i get out of that.

So just because a tracker has lots of members, or lots of members with a star to their name, does not mean they are making a fortune.
Obviously some are, but i bet they are very few and far between.

Of course I do...But for the most part my favorite sites are smaller communities. I donate to 3-4 sites and one forum on a semi-regular basis...
Falldx is making unfounded accusations on things he has "heard" and not beyond fact...Unless he is a sysop/owner somewhere and is speaking from his own true experience...You should refrain from generalizations and grouping all or most sites together...Are there a few that abuse donations? Probably/possibly...But it is not the norm.

You can't really compare BCG to the other trackers who make a lot of money from donations, since they're all selling invites, GBs, or freeleech of some sort, which probably gets more donors.
Actually believe it or not it doesnt, we get about the same amount in donations as we always have done, even when we had GB for cash (before the SP System) and even when we opened for 100,000 members.
Maybe its just me doing something right/wrong (whichever way you look at it lol)
But if i was making anywhere near what FallDX said trackers are making, i would have been taken away in a straight jacket by now, i never ever want to make a 10th of that per month, just too much bloody risk if you are making money off this.

TL is different story,you can't compare site with 20k members and 200k.
They even have some advertisements and that probably means user donations are not enough to cover server costs.
