i've always read the lyrics as being a bit of a melancholy of a having a deprived background

also Ben Folds - Brick

MORRISSEY songs make me want to run away screaming, except I don't have the energy as I am too depressed by the Morrissey song. Its a cruel and vicious circle.

....and ABBA. Anything that chirpy makes me very very sad.

Also Marilyn Manson's cover of The Ramones "The KKK Took My Baby Away" Fucking haunting cover of a song.

Danny Boy or Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart . I can't hear bagpipes with out getting teary eyed . But The Bee Gee's Trying to get a Message to you , works too the years I spent in prision were hard ... so you try to block out the memory's but I'd rank them pretty high . :)

Yea i lost the downward spiral a long time ago but i just found it. before i lost it i ripped it and put the one sung by Johnny Cash on it and burned it.

I'm not a big nirvana fan, I just listened to their first song a few weeks back, man cobain's life was depressing. makes the song feel bad also

Anything by Katatonia off their Discouraged Ones album, anything by My Dying Bride, Swallowed By The Sun by November's Doom, Anything by Shape Of Despair.

Emo kids should listen to some Doom Metal and hear what Depression really sounds like. ;)

Slipknot songs of course lol, only 3 of em that i find depressing (but are still very artistic mind you, in fact, the artistic slipknot songs are the ones where they're not screamin into the mike):

Danger, Keep Away

IMO, those 3 songs, although depressing, are masterpieces.
