john petrucci from dream theater ftw
Jimi Hendrix called Billy Gibbons(ZZTop) the best guitarist he had ever heard. If he were alive that would probably still stand true!
eddie van halen is pretty sick, along with hendrix. the best that ive seen live is zach wylde at ozzfest, that dude can shred.
100% agreeQuote:
john petrucci from dream theater ftw
Jimi Hendrix is the greatest electric guitar player ever.
Joe Walsh ain't too bad.
Jimi Hendrix
Gary Moore
Eric Clapton
I think "Brian "Head" Welch - KoRn" the best guitar player
I think "Brian "Head" Welch - KoRn" the best guitar player
thats so easy to answer the greatest guitar player ever is of course ME !
no crap i am without doubt the greatest and i dont care if you disagree !
you heard me play ?
whats that no ?
well shut the f**k up then
Maybe not the best ever...but my fav is still gotta be Dimebag.
Easily my favourite is Brian May. Hes a pure genious on the guitar. Has his own distinct sound and a one of a kind guitar. Author of "We will rock you", "Tie your mother down", "The show must go on", "I want it all", "Who wants to live forever" just to name some of many classics hes done.
Easily deserves the status of legend and definately up there with the best of them, even perhaps arguably the best guitarist ever.
Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton is the best!!!
50 cent, and that CHinese guy form dragon force lol.
Chris D'abaldo
Carlos Santana ...
that guy from Queen forgot his name
ahh I think I know... is his name Brian May?
Andres Segovia is awesome.
jimi hendrix definitely
Oh, me like this thread, at the same time - i hate it yup
I just think its all to hard to throw in names and name the player best guitarist ever. But ill give it a shot. When defining best player I would like to know if best player means fastest, best groove, coolest riff creator etc etc. But anyway... here is some ideas.
Frank Zappa - The one and only, great shredder, awsome solos, and still he's making great music.
Neil Young - Anyone played this beutiful exept for him?
Hendrix - He is considered the best amongst many music critics, not to say most music critics, and couldn't agree more.
Kurt Cobain - ever heard a wonderful solo from him? I sure as hell havn't. Ever heard any extreme lick where you've been thinking "how the hell does he do that"? I havn't. Still he's created some of the best riffs ever.
Steive Ray Vaughan - Scuttlebutin', need I say more?
BB King - Blues at it best.
Jimmy Page - Probably my favorite of all time, got it all. Some even say that he's a wizard, because how can one be that good at the guitar and not be a wizard? (What parts of the body did you think with during the 70s?)
John Frusciante - One bend, ten seconds. Thats all the solo you need man!
Some random namedropping
Buckethead
Santana
Townsend
Dylan
Cuck Berry
Tom Morello
Gilmore
Malmsteen (well he's fast anyway)
I could not finish this post without mentioning the anti-solos father Andrew Gill of the Gang of Four.
Stay music people!
Carlos Santana is a legend, amazing guitar player...
Jimi Hendrix
slash... from guns`n`roses !
Hendrix was way ahead of his time and oddly enough still is
Slash.
presently..john petrucci...no one can beat him..
My god, I am so sick of Hendrix. He most def is not.
I understand people saying Slash because he improvises most of those solos he creates.
I surprised nobody mentioned Dimebag Darrel or Steve Vai.
There is no best. However, there certainly is an elite group.
DJ-cutkiller ;).
Malmsteen hands down.
I think it all depends on the music you enjoy and the style of play and your current mood for the person you favour over the rest for me it's either older clapton or another endless list of people
Zakk Wylde :) and of course Dimebag was awesome!
Jon Petrucci of Dream Theater and Alan Morse of Spock's Beard are my favourites. I'm no expert though. Then there's Yngwie Malmsteen. I hear he is rather good too.
