Good tracker, great torrents...... everything good, except some mods.
My ratio was 1.6, until i used an unsupported(i guess) BT client and they disabled my account, accusing me of cheating in the IRC, kicked and banned my IP.
I tried to explain what might have happened, i never intended to cheat or never will on any site, and those morons won't even listen. Anyway I'm no longer interested. I have to agree with "theboxsucks" to some extent.
I'll have to chime in here to totally agree with the people who have had problems with the mods.
My experience was not that the guy I spoke to was totally outside of his rights to ban me, but that there was absolutely no chance for redemption from an honest mistake.
I signed up for the box shortly after moving to a place where I was on a router - The owner of the router was uncomfortable about me fiddling with the port forwarding so as such I was unconnectable and uploaded very little to torrent sites. I found I had downloaded nearly 9 gig of stuff and uploaded barely 2 - it wasn't looking good. I got the automated warnings, demoted to "peasant" status etc.
So a few weeks later I finally convinced the "powers that be" at home that it would be OK if I forwarded the ports in the router and got myself fully connectable - I went right back to TheBox.bz and started sharing what I had grabbed as fast as I could, posted on the "help im a peasant" thread, sent an email explaining my situation to mods. Left my machine running day or night with my 56 megabit connection working for all it was worth - which wasnt fast enough considering the limited stuff I had to share (my bandwidth was massive overkill for what was being taken)
I had a read of the rules and noticed that you had a set time limit to lose your peasant status or your account would be banned. Around this time I signed my room-mate up for an account on his computer, thinking at least if my account was terminated it would be OK, he could get the stuff for us both and we would be fine now that we were fully connectable. - Of course this is where I went wrong - even though it's two different computers, the rules say one account per household or you will be banned, and I was.
So I went to the IRC forum, cap in hand, explaining that I knew I had broken the rules, that I knew I should have read the rules properly and explained there was no "cheating" intended, I fully understood why I was banned, asked for my clear efforts to revive my "deep in the ratio hole" peasant account to be taken into consideration, but ultimately said it was their call.
Now, if the reply had been a "Sorry, rules are rules and unwittingly or not, you broke them so we cannot reactivate your account" I would have been totally fine with it - I SAID in my speech on my own behalf id be fine with any decision they made.
Instead I got a spiel about how I was obviously trying to cheat, about how "If I couldn't even handle one account how could I expect to handle two" (this, despite my explanation of my router firewall issue which was now resolved) and told to "leave and not return".
Nice bit of diplomacy there - I come to plead my case politely and am treated like a cur from the gutter by some holier than thou fuckwad.
Again, I'm aware I screwed up trying to make an account for another person's computer on this network, but the absolute zero tolerance and outright rude response to someone who has clearly come to try to do the right thing irritated the hell out of me. If I had wanted to "cheat" thebox I would have simply used free proxies to take what I wanted.
I agree that the mods are unfair. i've just been banned and when i asked why on irc, they said i was cheating. I wouldn't even know how to cheat on it! I asked them how i was cheating but they said they couldn't tell me. Then i got chucked out of the channel.

Just wanted to share my experience of being booted out of thebox.bz.
Have been a member for a few weeks, been a good boy ratio wise uploaded a couple of torrents etc.
Last night I attempted to upload the WRC from the weekend from DAVE and with my first attempt I forgot to list the date of airing source codec etc , so it was instantly deleted. Fair enough.
So I had another go this time making sure to get details correct in torrent file name, but adding a different description for the title. Again instantly deleted and my uploading rights cancelled.
PM one of site administrators for a reason, I just get a snotty 'read this' from an A hole I wont mention.
Went on to have a series of emails between us where I am trying to find out what I've done wrong and him not telling me (I remained cordial and polite by the way). So then I get a 2 week warning ! He then started throwing personal insults at me basically making out I must be really thick, which in these exact words I said 'that wasnt nice'
To which the response was 'this account has been disabled' Thrown out for annoying a little jumped up **** of a person who has nothing better to do than keep deleting torrents for no real reason other than it makes him feel like he has POWER!
So beware of upsetting anyone on thebox.bz wont you!
As you might imagine I am somewhat annoyed!!

+ ur ratio was 0.5.. i dont see how that was a good ratio.. yea u werent in ratio watch, but seeding 1/2 of what u uploaded isnt good either.. its just ok.
and u were speaking with a moderator, not an admin.
everything u need to know about uploading is in the upload guide and in the upload page.. u obviously failed to do both, then ignored the pm's u were sent by only doing one of the 3 things that u were asked to do..

Some of very old shows are also there... Havent had any mixup with MOD as of yet (lucky me).. Nevertheless i am not plannin to upload there anything so risk of missing on minor details and getting warned is out of picture..also first i made the buffer and now i will use it for my shows so ratio wise too i am safe.. Look you stupid Pratt, all you had to do was tell me that instead of putting the info in the torrent file I needed to put it into the torrent title. If you care to check I had already uploaded 2 other torrents, so it was obviously an oversight on my part, but a nice simple , 'this is what you've done wrong and this is what you need to do, ' kind of PM would have been the way to go, you know like you might get on other Torrent sites not run by jumped up little ***** like yourself.
With regard to my ratio, yes it was 0.5 but I have only been joined up a few weeks, and was just about to increase my ratio again by uploading my third torrent ,when you decided to do a hatchet job on me.

thebox is my home, i simply love it there and am logged in and on the forums many times a day.
the content is amazing, simply amazing, and everything is so well seeded, the speeds are excellent.
with regard to the mods, i've never had a problem with them, but i chat a lot in the forums and sometimes chat in IRC so you get to know them and theyre all decent enough people, i find them very helpful, dedicated and fair (and no, im not on the staff).
its an exceptional tracker, with an exceptional community, and a beautifully designed and highly functional website which is easy and pleasant to use.
ive uploaded over 2TB there and now ive got a seedbox, i dedicate about 80% of my bandwitdth to thebox.
if you're not a member, i can't recommend it enough. it simply rocks!
Not so great anymore after getting banned!
I have been a regular user for over a year and recently got the "extreme user" status, with a ratio of way over 3.
Last night I installed and used a software ("WM Recorder", even legally purchased) that allows recording of streaming video.
And BANG! - a few minutes later I was logged out of my TheBox account, with no way to log back in, as the account is now disabled and the IP banned!
I have absolutely no idea what one should have to do with the other, but at the same time it would simply be too much of a coincidence.
Does anyone have any idea why this could have happened?
Contacting The Box on IRC was unsuccessful (nobody there!). So in my desperation I tried to create a new account on my laptop PC, but I was told again that the IP was banned. But isn't the IP of every PC unique???
I'm at my wit's end. I have uploaded way over 1 Tera over the past year, and then I get kicked out for something I did that doesn't even seem connected to the site? I don't understand!
try again on their irc channel, they are very helpfull people, I am sure they will listen to you!

WM Recorder is the shittiest thing ever designed... it goes on and tampers with the headers ur client sends to the tracker which is why u got banned (u are more than welcome to go and complain to their developers for doing such a thing - especially if you paid for it :P )... at some point i ll ban it completely from the tracker to resolve this issue.
anyhow.. i ve enabled ur account since i am aware of WM Recorder and what it does, but i strongly suggest u completely uninstall it (and hope it actually uninstalls properly :P ) be4 trying to use the tracker again as u will get an instant ban with that software installed.. if the system disables u again I will not re-enable u.
the torrent client allowed list (http://thebox.bz/forums.php?action=v...cid=2189#25244) clearly indicates to not install this software..

I was, quite honestly, more than a little pissed off last night, after talking to support on IRC, and I'm so glad you guys did listen after all!
I honestly was not aware that this software was listed in the forum, and it didn't even occur to me to check, as I didn't in the slightest assume it could affect my TheBox account.
Anyway, I've thrown WM Recorder out for good, never mind the cost. The great torrents on TheBox are worth a lot more to me!

stay away from thebox.bz forums. they are worthless, and if the moderator doesnt like you, they will ban you from both the forums and the tracker.
the tracker is good tho.
I have to admit, I am much less enamored with their forums than I was a year ago. The forums were so much fun when the site first started but now they are heavily over-moderated.
Still, content-wise it's a bloody good tracker and that's the most important thing.
