Wrong... The spec for the FSC machine is far greater than that for FTN. Ask Zlo...
The only reason for site slowdowns would be routing/bandwidth. Remember that Asia is currently playing catchup with the US/Europe, but is well on it's way to becoming a major player with the imminent installation of the new fibre optic that connects Asia to Europe, which will give almost EU speeds to EU members.
Also, there is a lot of code optimisations that can speed up a site. Many repetitive queries, or uncached queries, can have an impact of page production. GZIP or compression does help, but the time taken to generate a page is often the main reason for slow responses (added on top of normal lag).
