Your post doesn't make sense.
512MB RAM isn't a limiting factor.

well on a dedicated server running linux, you can have as little as 256 megs RAM and have 40 torrents running without a hiccup (if it was on a vps, then forget it, painful moments)
that what i have on mine and used 5 TB bandwith last month
so 512 megs is great
you will need more RAM if you don't want to impact your speed while creating a torrent to upload. when i create one, my speed falls way down but it's only a couple minutes a day, who cares :)
-
Re: Best Seedbox..and i mean BEST
I think you're problem is confusing RAM with HD space.
You don't store files in RAM.

KFlint could you please say which company you are using? 5TB is a lot of bandwidth compared to other companies' offers.

Re: Best Seedbox..and i mean BEST
Whats the best operating system to use for a seedbox? I see options for Debian, CentOS, Fedora, and Windows 2003 Server.
Will any OS do? It seems like Debian is free and the others are upgrades, at least where I am shopping. Thanks!

Well.. depends on your linux skills.. I used a seedbox with centOS once had to install fonts etc.. Hard work for a windows guy :ermm:
If you're planning on using the linux guide here at FST don't use centOS i think fedora will do (but not sure). Windows is ofc preferable for newbs.:yup:
-
Re: Best Seedbox..and i mean BEST
fedora core 6 is the best choice for linux seedbox in my opinion, you can follow guides present in FST in that case
-
Re: Best Seedbox..and i mean BEST
I recommend Debian/Ubuntu Server.
If you have no desire to learn Linux, go with Windows.

from what i was told, 100mbit maxed all the time.
I've had a 49pence this month to play with, great speeds to LT (surprisingly) but elsewhere wasn't so well. I think my max speed was usually around 4mB/s. Getting rid of mine end of month ;)
-
Re: Best Seedbox..and i mean BEST
You're cancelling that quick?? So the speed is somewhat capped?

Anyone using Layered Tech right now? Thinking of going with them, so any comments are appreciated.

Re: Best Seedbox..and i mean BEST
Tzulo is the best. Cheap and fast. Perfect for buffering accounts. I've reached 10MBs upload w/ Tzulo.
