Best software for converting video files

i think nothing beats the avs convertor

imho; ffmpeg gets the job done pretty neatly

AVS converter is what i use

what about trying any dvd converter...i have had good luck with it.

I think any video converter is a good video converter ,
I didn't try anyone else, so I cannot say that it's the best

To Convert mkv to DVD for my Uncle who got no HDTV and no media player i use ConvertxToDVD. If i wanna convert any other Stuff to any other format, i use the Software called "Super" can do everything from Video to Audio with much formats.

TMPGEnc is great for converting, might take a lot longer than others but the quality is top notch

Hi, the best converter for me is the Cyberlink Power Director 8. You can choose the type of file you want and any quality you want.

XviD4PSP the best converter..

VirtualDub is prob the best because it can do so much more with all it's features.....but it's harder to use

i like Total Video Converter

I can recommend viDrop and SUPER. The former uses mencoder, so it's not as invasive as the latter (and even uses an INI file to store settings, so it's inherently portable), although it may be slightly harder to use for a beginner.

Some pro one use megui. But it is complex. Sometime I use TMPGENC to convert video file. And I think this is the best way to convert video file.

Convert X to DVD is super.

Have mostly used ConvertxtoDVD for converting to dvd compatible videos.

Its usually not good form to transcode but Handbrake is a decent option. I'd recommend encoding from the source to what you want the file to be.
