What a surprise, they never needed to close invites,they are a lossless music tracker with less than 1.5k people! Its not like they are uploading major pre releases, But if the staff there wants to compromise the quantity of activity for security thats their choice.

1. They closed invites because of the OiNK breach and as an added layer of security, not to start hand-picking special users.

2. The scene doesn't release lossless music (if they did, you can but it'd be crap), so good PRE times is completely irrelevant.

3. They're not risking their security in any way. If they opened invites again, maybe. Only one invite was given to one user to give to another user. I doubt Polarbear is an active member of the RIAA.

Right now, the 3 latest invited persons at E have been invited by moderators.
Probably also very, very trusted persons at E may request an invite.
