Hi ILW. :D
For NOD32 you must have a password for monthly updates, and is not easy but not very hard to find it. :lol:Quote:

For NOD32 take the un/pw you find. Go to the ESET site - downloads - commercial (not trial). You'll get un/pw prompt....... But the crack is as SH said month to month.
Norton Anti Virus all the way!

hi been through norton antivirus 2004 book, i cant find if they allow shared networks to use same package as norton now uses product keys?it allows it in 2003 package but not sure with this one. if any one knows could u pm me the answer please or just reply to this. gonna email them! <_<
*bump*
can somebody send me the NOD 32 full installer or AVG 7 PRO please I really need it because I reformated my CPU and erased Norton Antivirus 2003, Email [email protected] Thanks
Apparently I'm the only one who's using Avast AV. NAV gave me far to many headaches and missed a couple of Trojans and one worm. I use NAV 04 as a back up and Avast freeware version as my mainstay. It's pretty damn nice. Easy to use and takes up little in the way of resources, which is critically important on my test machine which uses an ancient P2-300.
PS Hey DSA, how did you reformat your CPU? You must be realllllly smaaaaart ;) cuz I can't do that.....just kidding, dude. :P
As a side note, for getting free subcription updates when your NAV expires, just uninstall and reinstall NAV. I used 02 untill 2 months ago with this trick and a friend is still using it on 03. It dont think it'll work on 04 cuz of the reg code, but I'll know in about 10 more months ;) :D  B)
Oh yeah, dont forget Ad-aware at LavaSoftUSA
and SpyBot Search and Destroy at SpyBot Search & Destroy
True, not AVs, but damn usefull apps nonetheless!
Need user/pass.Quote:

I figured this would probably be the best place to post my two questions.
1) I read that running two firewalls at the same time is bad because the two can conflict with each other. Is running two AV programs similar to this? What about running an AV program and using a web-based scanner (like some of the ones posted in this thread)?
2) I have McAfee Virus Software and everyday it tells me that i need to update my subscription because it has been a year since i bought it. So it gives me three options: Purchase, Cancel, Help.
When i click on "Cancel," it disappears. When i click on "Purchase," it also disappears. What do I do?
Most Ant-virus applications can be renewed easily by un-installing and then reinstalling. Pc-cillin and norton have this glitch.
Heres a link for NOD 32
http://www.nod32.com/download/download.htm
i noticed that when i installed norton 2002 it said it expires 2005 same with 2003 expires 2005!
What about mcafee stinger?
im trying to use trojanscan.com but it says im not allowing activeX controls. i followed all the steps they said to use in order to get it to work but it doesnt work.
Recently installed NIS 2004 Pro.
Caused all sorts of problems and crashes as well as running like a P100.
Decided to uninstall - crashed during uninstall.
Tried to uninstall again - message "You can only uninstall installed packages".
Tried system restore - failed - script blocked by symantec script blocker.
Tried to manually uninstall msi scripts - message "this script can only be run from setup"
What it boils down to is that NIS is a pile of crap. I now have to re-install my system because the tossers at Symantec can't write a simple install/uninstall script.
My advice - stay well clear.
I dunno, looks ok but I'll stick with norton 2k4 thank you :)Quote:

Got 2 pcs 1 norton 2004 1 2003 both internet security works for me
Wonderfully explained the best I've seen on any media outlet.
I downloaded Norton firewall from Kazaa and had lots of probs somehow hacked in to my firewall and kept turning my comp off and sending something thaty spiked my downloads so that they were no longer available to finish downloading. I did the security check after installing and all seemed fine. Any ideas how they broke in?
Yes I'm afraid I do.Quote:

You don't have adequate multilayered security, unsafe net habits & a lack of knowledge.
A couple of months ago I related the problems I had with NIS. Since then I've been using AVG7 without any problems.
My brother however insisted he wanted to use Norton Antivirus 2004. His net habits aren't too safe, but he thought NAV should have protected him. How wrong he was. Maybe NIS would have done better, but his comp isn't too powerful to begin with.
The last week or so he has been plagued by pop-ups, which he thought he had tracked down to a rogue piece of software. He cleared it off, but it kept returning. So yesterday he asked me to try and sort it out for him. After an hour of removing various ActiveX controls (IE, don't you just love it?) only to have them reappear, I realised there must be some sort of virus at work.
I removed NAV, and installed AVG7. As soon as I started IE, AVG leapt into action and warned me about a trojan. I decided to keep off the internet for a while, and do a full system scan. AVG found no less than SEVEN trojans which hadn't been spotted by NAV. Perhaps a full system scan by NAV would have spotted them, but I'm doubtful.
Once the system was clear, I also installed Zone Alarm. When I went back on the net, the number of high risk attacks on his comp was unbelievable, but fortunately none are now getting through.
Why didn't NAV detect those trojans? Because Symantec class them as Spyware. But what thay actually do is download binary images of other software, load them into memory, then execute them without ever writing anything to disk. The result is that your machine is wide open to the world. A firewall would have stopped some of this, but so would proper protection against trojans.
I used to swear by Norton as the best AV around. Now I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
Surprised that no one has mentioned key loggers ( for those who do know they are small programs which respond to designated triggers, such as going to a bank site, record all keystrokes into a txt or similar file and then email it to the perpetrator. There seem to be no progs other than a very close examination of your firewall logs, to see if they are there. Diagnose Windows does some work in this area, but not sure how comprehensive it is. Most AV's respond only specific profiles.
ps Had major problems with Norton 2004 (2003 was fine) now using AVG Pro and Outpost.
I have always used norton, but now i have switched to Mcafee
I use kaspersky antivirus pro, all the time I scan my computer, it doesn't difine any virus but the volume of my hard disk always decrease, what must I do? plz.
