hehe i love to help if i can:D
can u tell me what error u getting in tracker status??
also disable complete your firewall and restart utorrent..must work:)
Just keep getting offline timed out. Every torrent seems to work except one torrent from myspleen (Failure: Bad Client (UT1760). They banned 1.7.6 which i don't understand why, if every other tracker is embracing this current version due to the doss attack situation . Any Myspleen mods on here?

Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
they may do the same as BCG
Ban all clients and only allow those that we want in.
which means as its a brand new build they might want to see if its ok first before they allow it. i have seen us wait 2-3 weeks before allowing a new build of a client, which is why i was pretty surprised when i woke up this morning, we had already allowed 1.7.6 as it usually takes a bit.

probably your firewall are blocking new version of utorrent..u need to again set new rule for new utorrent in your firewall:)

Security vulnerabilities in BitTorrent clients are relatively rare, although not unheard of. Luigi Auriemma, a Milan-based security expert, claims to have found a vulnerability in various BitTorrent clients based on the way they handle user-supplied data. The flaw allows an attacker to crash the application, effectively denying service to legitimate users. Code execution is not possible, which means there is little reason for users to panic.
So far, the problem appears to affect these clients:
- BitTorrent 6.0 (build 5535)
- uTorrent 1.7.5 (build 4602)
- uTorrent 1.8 (alpha 7834)
Luigi is reporting that earlier versions of these clients may also be vulnerable and this appears to have been confirmed by the uTorrent team. The problems are confirmed to exist on Windows versions of the software. As yet, Mac and Linux versions of the official BitTorrent client have not been tested.
The uTorrent team state the flaw affects all older uTorrent versions 1.6 and 1.7.x. too but have been quick to respond, releasing a new build - uTorrent 1.7.6 (build 7859) "

Most trackers i have seen allow this updated version (1.7.6) already.

The exploit that allows running code on 1.6.x is an old exploit, and on any decent private site is not usable. 1.6.x is not suitable for public site use, but it's been that way since february of last year. It's almost 12 months too late to get your knickers in a twist about it.
The latest remote crash exploit doesn't even work on 1.6.x versions. Freaking out and banning one of the few versions that aren't susceptible is only putting users in a worse position.

Now they are saying it doesn't affect 1.6, and my testing agrees.
1.6 does not even display the info gathered from extended messaging version info.

I've seen another tracker ban 1.7.6
now I'm a bit confused as to what version I should use. I don't really want to switch to another client.

Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
Thanks, rvt, for shedding light on this issue. It's starting to sound like a tempest in a teapot. I'm glad to know my old uTorrent version hadn't left me as vulnerable as it first sounded. Nevertheless, the upgrade was very easy and I can't tell I changed anything except the version number in the window bar. I've read that it could consume more system resources, but I can't find any evidence of that on either of my systems. At this point, I don't see any reason to reinstall an older version or change back to Azureus (the real resource glutton).

Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
I don't have an issue with the new client, I just wish myspleen would approve it... :|

just close the thrwad this is some gibberish
-
Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
Any intelligent cheater can present a 1.7.6 version to a tracker, it's not hard to do.
Maybe he prefers to stick to 1.6.1 because it has zero code from bittorrent inc in it. Even if you don't believe the conspiracy theories, that's not a bad thing. If we're all honest, the real reason bt inc bought uT was because the official client was a badly coded POS.

Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
I don't understand the purpose of this thread. There is no reason to "take a stand" against the new version of uTorrent. It's for your safety.
Likewise, a thread on FST probably won't make a difference.

It's not for anyones safety, it's so that uT can force all those people who have avoided 1.7.x to upgrade and so some trackers can flex their muscles.
If you check the uT changelog now, they have changed it to say it affects all 1.7.x and 1.8.x builds. This is a different story to the earlier change log that stated 1.6.x builds were also affected. I wonder if we'll get a changelog for the changelog.
uT staff are not above lying to get what they want, and for some reason they wanted everyone on 1.7.6. Listing 1.6.x in the changelog was a lie, because they knew when they posted that it was not affected, and I know they knew :P
Notice how all 1.7.x and 1.8.x versions are affected (since april last year), and yet this bug is dicovered by accident and not by a large number of users being crashed. Even if you are attacked by this, you can leave uT happily running with the general tab open and it will not crash. It requires you to view the peers list while connected to the attacker to crash.
I'm guessing that 90-95% of the time, you are doing other things while uT runs in the background, which means you don't need the peers list open and uT will not be susceptible.
A few sides have been spreading FUD about this issue, including uT staff, when the reality is that this is not that big a deal at all.
Whatever the upgrade is for, it's not for safety.

Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
tooo late im already on the darkside
-
Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
The claims that it affects 1.6.x are back in the changelog.
If they can't decide if their client is bugged or not, would you trust their latest version?

Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
I don't know whether to :D or:cry:
On 2nd thoughts i think i'll :frusty:

Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
Damn i wonder if uTorrent has some ill intentions. Starting to feel differently about the upgrade. Not in a good way.

lol that is old news, also they have allowed 161 becuase its is allowed on waffles, lol they cant check so they need to see from other sites, but that will nothing change since 161 and all version except 176 are banned from BCG,TTi,ScT,NB and many more..
so if u are member on any of these sites u can only use 176 so there is no point if whatcd and waffles allowed 161:D

Re: Join Forces Against Utorrent 1.7.6
actually BCG hasnt banned it yet, and we are still discussing it, we havnt actually banned 1.7.5 either but i think thats going to be a definitive later, but as for 1.6.# we dont know what we are going to do, that many different stories atm.
Im sure you will find out in a few hours if we have/havnt banned the 1.6.# versions.

then why we have recived announcements that is banned?
there are not many stories at all,u have read all from utorrent forum then u should know very well what to do and what other sites have done..just ban that bugy 161 for our safety

Wasn't there a front page announcement that you banned all versions except 1.6.1? I would ask uTorrent what's really going on here.
