:idunno: I reckon it's imported from the UK, like.
It's large format, like, though.
There wasn't even a hardback available, when I got it, afaik.
It was indeedly - I even when downstairs for a coffee. I was taxi driver for SGG and mate (on "essential" shopping duties apparently). Directline had given me a book token for moving to them so I felt drawn to the warmth and comparative safety of Waterstones. I think her pal was getting his ear pierced and I wanted no part of it and could claim plausible deniability when his Mum burst a fuse.
You do realize that i might actually read all the authors you have mentioned.
Costa in a Waterstone's whilst your daughter's pal get's his ear pricked. Picking up your free book, which you were gifted for getting vehicular insurance.
Does it get any more middle aged, middle class idyllic than that old bean.
I dislike Bryson. He's an arrogant ass.
I love it that his rebellious statement includes his pal's dad doing the taxi driving.
In other news, great call on the plausible deniability.
When number two son announced rather dramatically that he was getting his ear-pierced, obviously expecting a reaction, my reply was along the lines of "Fair do's, mate. It's your lug. Just make sure it's somewhere with good hygiene."
"Notes from a Small Island" I didn't find it funny at all. He sounded like such a whinger throughout the whole book. I haven't bothered with him since then. There are funnier writers out there, Pete McCarthy for example.
I'm reading. Philip.K.Dick - Flow my tears, the policeman said.
Very good stuff.
Ah, rite, Philip K. Dick can be pretty damned funny at times :smilie4:
