Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
I honestly do not see much of a difference. What is the difference that you guys are commenting on? All that I can see is that Esir's looks a little darker. But I'm not seeing this blur that makkienator commented on.
But yeah, as Player said, people are too picky. They both look nice and crisp and colorful.

Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
wiki looks better because of sharpen filter,I'm sure ESiR is close to the source~

Just watch books in the picture, you'll be surprised how much ESiR is worser then WiKi. WiKi dont release as often as ESiR, people mostly think ESiR is best cause they release the most, more then scene groups, their quantity is top, but quality not.

Yep, but you can still see the diference in quality, its obvious.
-
Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
Yes, I can see a difference, that's true.
What are the respective filesizes of each rip and what are the bitrates?
I've had a look on both HDBits and BitHDTV and can't find the Wiki release of Meet the Robinsons on either site.

Thanks for the info.
And this is the info for the ESIR release:
RELEASE.NAME..: Meet.The.Robinsons.2007.720p.BluRay.DTS.x264-ESiR
RELEASE.DATE..: 06.12.2007
THEATRE.DATE..: 23.3.2007 (UK - IMAX version)
RUNTiME.......: 1:34:30
SiZE..........: 4.06GB (Space left for an extra 448kbps soundtrack)
ViDEO.CODEC...: x264
FRAMERATE.....: 23.976
BiTRATE.......: 4638kbps
RESOLUTiON....: 1280x720 (16:9 full frame)
AUDiO.........: English DTS 5.1 1.5mbit
SUBTiTLES.....: English - ASS
SOURCE........: Meet the Robinsons Blu-ray 1080p AVC EU
I guess it's the video bitrate of the Wiki version that makes the difference (6614 vs 4638) although I'm no expert.

Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
^ Yeah, that's what it looks like. So maybe it is true the bigger the file size the better the quality? I don't know though, I'm not an expert either.

You actually got me interested in Wiki's releases now, since I don't think I've downloaded many of theirs.(I usually grab Eureka's releases whenever I have the choice). I'm going to grab a copy of Meet the Robinson's from both groups(Wiki and Esir) and see how each look in motion. Unstable is right, those aren't the same frames, but Wiki's does look a little crisper and more vibrant. I wanna see them both in motion.
I'm glad you posted those.

Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
I uploaded now on bithdtv WiKi release, so who wants can grab, I posted same frames, and diference is lesser then on these pictures, so I apologies, but it is still little bit better, sharper, better colours.

Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
EuReKA is my favorite group. They have more releases than all other groups and they don't care about DVD-size at all (CRF). DXVA is a nice bonus "feature" too.
CtrlHD is a big group and the quality and type of encoding depends to much on the actual encoder. They are better than scene of course as almost all internal encoders are. Other good encoders/groups are: HDmonSK, iLL, DON, ESiR, M794, MMI, NiX, PerfectionHD
If you stick to those groups and to HDbits and Bit-HDTV, you'll get more than 80% of all available movies in great quality.

Thx for this, I already know for iLL, DON and NiX but in future I will pay attention to other groups you mentioned.

Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
Thanks for the info on this thread. I have been downloading all my fave movies as scene releases from TL and have sometimes been pretty disappointed by the quality compared to actual Blu-Ray / HD-DVD. Now I know there are better releases I am going to have to get myself onto hdbits by trading some invites when my initial 30 days here is up.
Feel like I have wasted over 100GB of DL though :(

HDChina is their HOME. You've just missed their open signup.
For 720p encodes ESiR is my choice. Just started downloading some WiKi releases, will need a better TV to see the difference. I actually want to see some comparison between these two groups and to source. Does anyone happen have any?
Also agree that CtrlHD's quality really depends on the actual encoders. I wasted 8G on their Leon 2 in 1 not long ago.

You've got it right. Same thing as it's a private site by invite only get an invite from a friend blahblahblah. :shifty:
Check back sticky post sites open for signup often and you'll get your chance. :fst:

Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
you obviously have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to HD. Scene groups shouldn't be on the list. And I hope that isnt in order of quality cause if it is I would just delete that post.
P.S. Why are you bumping this old thread
-
Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
Ive downloaded mostly every group and Ive always found EuReKA releases to be the best of the best. The file sizes are huge, but the quality is the best your going to find. ESiR tries to make the files somewhat smaller, at the price of quality.

Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
*trolls for scene groups*

Re: ESiR - Best HD Release group?
What bitrate of a compressed 720p and 1080p movie is good, and what's bad? Is it a good thing to compare releases with, if I just want quality?
