in my opinion bitdefender is the best
I used to swear by AVG free.
But version 8.00 has lots of problems, updates hard to get (servers busy), scans do not complete (corrupt files) clashes with Zone Alarm. And it has become bloated.
Also if an update or scan fails to complete, the program reports the last scan and update as the time of the failed ones, not the last completed one !
I enjoy these posts as I always strive for better protection but still use Eset or Kaspersky .
I wish Benche would post his experience with Sypware Doctor W/ Anti Virus .
I'm still trying the spyware end of it but the Antivirus bit has me curious .
The latest NOD32 is very good.
Bitdefender 2009 is awesome.
nod32 is my favor:)
I have just uninstalled AVG 8.00 free which was clogging up my system and updates were hard to get, and it often failed to complete its scans as files got corrupted.
I have just installed Avast Home and find it OK so far.
If you have money: NOD32
If you want free: AVG
Thats what I use.
I was just reading av-comparatives.org and they are a little far to the left . They seem to judge a anti virus on how many hits it gets including the " False positives " ?
Very poor reviews for the ones I like , such as Kaspersky , Nod32 and F-Secure . Interesting what members here say tho .
Link from my friend PlayeR .

I recommend to use your own brains :P I haven't used AV for over a year now. And I have had no problems whatsoever. Although, when I did have AV, I was quite satisfied with AVG free edition.
Avira is the best IMO. :)
That's a cop out , what O/S are "you" using ? Use my own brains ya thats a givin . Sorry but this filesharingtalk,we actually try different programs then comment .
I try a few programs every week and where I get them is pretty dodgy I'll admit , I don't like to play people for fools myself .
kaspersky was the best antivirus always. but there was one problem - large consumption of system resources. now, when KAV2009 released, this problem is solved. and with this one protection from viruses and trojans got better ever.
I understand that Kaspersky may be the best... but I installed it in the past and it reduced my system performance by half similar like Norton.
Then I tried Nod32... It is the best and it is very fast...
I recomend AVG, it is free and you can update every day.....i don't like NOD 32 because it can cause some problems with your torrent download manager.
Well, I used to use NOD32. That was the best one I think
But now i am a ubuntu guy and don't need an antivirusprogram. I think ubuntu is so nice for your everyday needs, but i dual boot so i can play games, just use windows for the gaming.
nod32
NOD32 rocks
Nis 09
I recommand Kapersky . Why? I had lots of problems with NOD32 regarding utorrent connections .
Comodo Internet Security Free
Just saw a commercial for Shaw Internet , comes with Norton Internet Security . Had to smile and thought you poor basterds .
Just uninstalled Symantic End Point from the inlaws puter and then put Eset Security in . The change is striking no more sloooow computer , random freezing etc.
Typical me at a family function , fixing the computers .
I use nod32 but i won't tell you "it's the BEST anti-virus cause i never had any problem since 2 years"...
You are all only talking about your OWN experience with a AV without telling us how you are using internet...
Keep in mind that it's easy for a internet user not to have any problem (even with a shitty AV) if:
- he doesn't click on every links he find
- he doesn't open attachments without checking them
- he doesn't visit a bunch of adult sites
- he doesn't download anything (crack, hack etc...)
- he keep his softwares updated
etc... etc...
I use nod32 but I can't say it's the best
I think Kaspersky is the best, but that's just me.
I use AVG but I'm sure some are better then it. But it's worked fine for me for the time I've used it.
kaspersky for ever
I like NOD32 best.
Commercial: KAV or NOD32
Free: Avast Home Edition
Dr. Web .
I had tried all " mcafee , avg, kasbersky , norton, nod
all are small against " Symantec End Point Protection "
great anti virus catch viruses not seen by kasbersky or others...
Avast 4.8 ;)
If you use windows then windows live excellent 90day trial inc
Its easy as pie
Norton usually ends up with false positives, but it's reliable as it is fast.
Antivir. It's free and good. I used a very long time Kaspersky but I losed my Key :( Shit happens
Kaspersky is very good but it doesn't catch some things. and it makes a really annoying screeching sound if it detects something.
I don't use one because I'm a mac user :)
i have been using NOD32 for 2 months now its pretty good.
