i have a 250W psu, 5 years old, still works well [i do open it and blow the dirt of once every year or something]
my problem, howveer is this; i want to buy a new pc and i want the following DRIVES installed
2 SATA drives [raid 0 config]
1 CDRW
1 DVDROM
1 CD ROM [existing one, cause there are some CDs the newer drives are not able to read, dunno why]
plus an odd HDD once in a while, you know, swapping stuff off friends
where do i get a psu with so many power connectors?

Most new power supplies have quite a lot of power connectors but if you need more there are splitters as Kunal just said.
Here's an example: http://www.css.msu.edu/PC-Guide/Images/Splitter.gif
when I need to sleep i turn my computer off.
I found if I leave it on while i am sleep I dont get good sleep.
the fans......just too loud
i turned mine off a couple months ago to fit a network card.
cant remember the time before that :)

Then don't turn it on and off!! ;) leave it on.Quote:
I don't want to risk damaging my pc
That's the way i do it.. leave it on all night and day, reboot it and and leave it back on 24 hours.
Just to flush it all.. ;)
I use to turn off my computer once a day for a few minutes. I think it performs better then...
Though you must see how you feel when you touch your hard disk after leaving your computer on for a day at least...
thanks Kunal and Somebody1234 :)
its good you gave the reason why. i was reading it and thinking, 'another Feng Shui guy who believes electricity messes with your head'. :ph34r:Quote:

Nothing wrong with leaving ya PC on for ages, will keep ya HDD in better condition for longer, thats why all major servers, even if not needed are kept on.
Dave
I never turn My computer off, only re-boot once in a while when it ask for it.

Ok i read the topic on how long it is ok 2 leave your computer on 4...
but iam still worried about leaving my PC on 4 days on end...
i just recentley got DC++ and iam downloading sum gr8 movies but i have 2 leave my computer on day and night 2 get these movies...
so i just want 2 know do u leave your computer on 4 days at a time...
if leave your pc on for like days on end dont u need to refresh the memory by restarting it. i tend to do that. the longest i had mine on is about 3 days . it sucks for the power supply as well
i leave mine on all the time, but i heart that it is good to gif it a cold reboot now and then, anybodý knows why?
please ignore this one. read below

you need to reboot once in a while mostly to flush the memory. windows has crappy memory management. there are some frigging good programs for that at download.com. other than that, you can leave it on all the time.Quote:
