As long as it's not endless spam I think that more people recognize and appreciate the effort than don't.

All well and good but you are going to make a statement like that you should at least support with a reason ( although I can guess) and it also doesn't answer the initial question.

Re: What's your average number of tracker forum posts?
On forums I like, more than 100 - less than 300.
-
Re: What's your average number of tracker forum posts?

'average' doesn't mean two of your trackers...

I'd have to agree with this, even if it is slightly sarcastic. I fall into the 0-50 range myself. More often than not folks with high post counts rarely post anything of substance or quality. This isn't always the case, especially if a user has been a member for a long time, or just really likes communicating through tracker forums.
I prefer IRC for "community" interaction over forums, it's much more dynamic. Of course forums have their place and use, because you have the retention and search feature, enabling easy answers and help to common problems/questions.
But as cinephilia said, I don't care about spam threads or posting for the sake of posting, after all I have a life to live outside of torrent communities.
Bottom line: quality over quantity.

Re: What's your average number of tracker forum posts?

I feel the same way. IRC allows people to have something even closer to a "face to face" conversation that forums are unable to provide. It's usually a lot more interesting as you're able to get to know the other users better. Most of the trackers I'm on don't have good forums at all, to be quite honest. UG and Waffles are two I've found with good forums that aren't matched on any other site I've encountered.

I agree except forum is more modifiable and editable way of expressing your ideas and therefore posts are usually more thoughtful and more developed. Forum threads also allow long conversations that can be brought up anytime. Just look at this thread, do you think such a chat would be possible on IRC?
I think it depends what kind of discussion one is looking for.

Agreed. Most tracker forums I've seen don't have threads like this though.
I admire IRC because it's like sitting with friends and talking about random stuff that has little significance.

Re: What's your average number of tracker forum posts?
But forums are a better way to judge someone's intellectual side. Anyone can make smalltalk via irc but not everyone can post something without looking like a fool.
-
Re: What's your average number of tracker forum posts?
That's very true. I probably should have clarified in what ways I agreed with Crowley in my previous post. Intellectual discussion rarely, if ever, take place in IRC. It's definitely not the place I would look for one. IRC is just a good way to relax and sort of forget about irl stuff... at least for me. I certainly see the intellectual value of forums, and do post in serious threads from time to time.

Re: What's your average number of tracker forum posts?
Quality discussions generally take place on forums, as the members take some time to think and post over a certain topic.
IRC is for small talk. As i see, its more of an unwinding medium than anything else.Forums certainly have a charm of their own.

@ topic
I voted 0 - 50, but 0 - 5 would better reflect my attitude. Trackers in my opinion are for downloading, not discussion.

I couldnt agree more, what I really find it hilarious when tracker staff beg for people to be active in their lame forums.

Re: What's your average number of tracker forum posts?
depends if i have something to say
-
Re: What's your average number of tracker forum posts?
Does it really matters? Well, maybe.
But it's certainly not the case for me, I post frequently on the What forums as there are much more obscure hipsters there.
My place to be definitely, and J.T is just one of the few mainstream artistes that I admire if you were thinking that I'm just a miserable ****.
