I could only connect using the private server patch and couldn't talk.

I rebooted,set up no password and have players now.

Cheers for the games nam,soth and Mc.

I am going to try again in 20 mins or so and open it without password so we get a few more in.

OK,have just tested this no password set and had players in seconds so know its ok my side.

Do not go through gamespy go via your Halo,direct IP.

I tried to hook up earlier on Gamespy and got the same error as you did.

EDIT: OK I found a permanent solution to the Halo.exe problems. Listen carefully :blink:

The 1.01 Halo.exe doesn't allow hosting of servers but has hundreds of servers online to play on.
The 1.00 Halo.exe allows hosting but there are only about 20 online servers to play on.

So if you have no intention of hosting a game only use the 1.01 version. If you want to host a server plus have hundreds of online servers to play on: download 1.01 and 1.00, put them both in the Halo directory (I changed the filename of the 1.00 version so they won't overwrite each other) and place shortcuts to both of them on your desktop. Also to play on a 1.00 server (the servers that will be posted here) you will need to use the 1.00 version so you may as well have both.
