Truth I like Portuguese chicken here as well, we also have a roasted chicken place here Swiss Chalet, There saying is "Always so good for so little" , but that is bullshit now....
Do you have Costco's , Sams Club?? or do you grocery stores sell prepared food??
Sometimes it is cheaper getting a chicken cooked here then cooking it yourself....
Only problem is your eating the same thing for a few days.....
So my recommendation stands , rub oil and salt, throw it in the oven 425 degrees (or your conversion), i use tin foil on the baking sheet, you can use parchment paper as well, they turn out exactly the same as fries really, and if it is just yourself, one potato cut up is good, and really less mess....Quote:

Sometimes i sit in the condo lobby with friends i made , and we discuss the cost of some takeout/prepared food, vs making it yourself??
Being just me and my wife most of the time, eating regular every day food is cheaper to buy it prepared then making it. and the wife and i do like Chinese food, i ain't making that. so that is take out for sure......
As for steaks, lamb chops, ribs, if the kids come sometimes i cook sometimes i order, but that cost is crazy different , way cheaper to make it yourself for the same quality.....
But one thing i dislike the most is the cleanup!!!!!, my wife doesn't do much, so i do everything from cooking to cleanup.....
That's when cost effectiveness can be thrown out the window sometimes!!!!
