So you all lean towards ATi
I want a card that can play half-life 2 and FFXI. Also wont be a crappy ass card in a year.

Yeah...remember Price RANGE!
By the time games even use 256MB PCI express will be working and all the new version ATI cards will be out...dont get 256Now..save the money to get the new version ATIs with PCI express! If you get the 9700Pro and not the 9800Pro 256MB...then you already have saved $130 which you can spend on a new card! lol
This is what compusa has instuck and what you are thinking.
http://www.compusa.com/products/products.a...0&CusaNe=200454

8 Pipelines from the 9700Pro :P hahaQuote:

Its about pipelines my friend.
9600 Series has 4 Pipelines and is more of a budget/gaming card.
9700 Series has 8 pipelines and is an awesome gaming card..the 9800 and 9700 Series are on the same level...just the 9800 has a higher clock speed!
Go with the 9700Pro for $200.
@bigdawg
read this, you may find it is a very very nice card :)
500Mhz clock speed, thats faster then a 9800XT B)
As i said i don't have a credit card, does newegg let you buy with money order or something?
Are ALL in Wounders any good? not the video cards but the add on for the tv tuner
OK they take money order, so i am gonna buy from them :DQuote:

What is your budget agent smith? And are you sure that you want a card with AIW capabilities?
If you aren't sure, you should read the article linked below.

all in wonders are great if you plan on using those functions, but my guess is you probably wouldn't use anything more then what a regular card with video-in/video-out has, so it may be a waste of extra money that could be put into a higher end card

here is my two cents. If you still want a whole computer, look on ebay. there are reatilers who asemble them and sell them for not that much more than if you were to put it together yourself. Also they have ones with lcds for under 2k see link.

BUMP
If I were you I would be very careful buying such an expensive item off of ebay.
If you must buy a preconfigured computer, you might as well buy it from a company with a good name and a strong warranty.
Agreed :)Quote:
