I suppose a porn database (of sig2dat links and stuff) would be alright. The threads that there have been related to such things in this forum have been very popular and have attracted alot of posts.
Nope, dont care for it.
dont really see any need - though if thats the way admin want to go then just do it ffs. yourself and 7th have both wanted it to be discussed and there have been a ridiculous number of posts/threads/campaigns for and against...i suggest you do what you want to do - at the end of the day, if its unsuccessful, noone will visit, hence no problem. with all these things, we are put under the impression that this isnt a change to the forum, in which case i dont see what anyones problems are with it - if you want to add it to your website then go ahead, its nothing to do with me, i just cmoe to your forum and post random crap now and then
just my 2cents
i second this... i for one, am a youngster...Quote:

No, I think it might attract weirdos to the forum, and many of the members here are young. Even though the link is different, they might still come in here.
point is - if you wanted that sort of thing on our wonderful board, youd need to verify whoever getis in is over 18, and how do you do that to be 100% sure? YOU CANT...
so, i voted no, and i really hope this "adult.filesharingtalk.com" will not be created.
Rafi
I didn't vote but I say Bring on the nekkid ladies :D Whoever said theres already enough on the net doesn't know what they are talking about.
There are never enough nekkid ladies.
TD
**I don't really care either way. I wouldn't have enough time to properly "read" all the posts anyway.**
;) Where is the Sports.filesharingtalk.com Poll?As you can see most People said no to this Adult idea.
Lets see what the People say about Sports. What to make a $20 PayPal Bet that most say Yes?
Come on.....I will Bet anybody $20. :P
I don't think we would need a sports.filesharingalk.com site. Instead just a Sportsworld at this site.
I will make a poll. If over 57% of users want it, and the mods and Admins agree wth the idea I will Make a SportsWorld.
I voted 'No' but if there was a promise of a GEP section then maybe I could change my mind... ;)
wow, 57....that wasnt a random number
Yes, I like the idea.
look at how this board turned out :-p http://www.sekani2.net/forums/index.php?
Most sites do this by a simple "I am 18 years or older" disclaimer page at the beginning.Quote:

Why associate the board with porn? Hell no I say.
Where the hell is Alpha Caesar with his input?
 check out that board came back to this OW my freckin eyesQuote:

To address some of the stated reservations.
1) It attracts the wrong crowd.
That kinda offends me. I look at porn and have several friends who enjoy looking at it. We are not criminals nor do we go out and rape or pillage. Nor is there some type of ethics tests to log onto here...for all we know any one of the users here culd be bad...I mean this is a forum about filesharing which is being used for the most part to swap copyrighted material which maybe of itself unethical. We don't make users answer to any high moral code or anything like that.
2) Kids may see it
Yes and I can see that can be veiwed as bad. But that is true on the internet period. It's funny that the fileswapping phenonom(sp!) was pushed as a way to get around censorship in certain countries like China yet here we are...talking about it...We could do our part with a disclaimer and parents need to be PARENTS and do their part...If I had a child there are all kinda things one can do...to fix the porn issue..a friend of mine put his kids computer in the kitchen and wont let him use it unless either he or his wife could see the monitor...that takes no computer savvy or skill at all....
3) It's not wanted
The poll numbers do not necessarily reflect the true response to veiwing porn since there is still a social stigma attached to veiwing it. I am also confused by the difference in results from this poll compared to the other dozen or so ran before ownership changed not sure if their is any correlation just an observation.
In closing I would like to point out this:
The two most popular files swapped on amost P2P's are music and porn. This is supposed to be a fileswapping forum. To not have a section for the second(maybe top?)most shared file type just to me sounds rediculus..especially for reasons i have see so far...filesharing is of itself a radical anarchist type of expression to worry about ones image or legaility in certain areas such as free speech or privacy issues. Also I would like to point out that one surefire way to insure that this isnt some type of RIAA honeypot trap forum that is gonna be ran for a couple of years to log ips and the bust people for music swapping is to have a porn section because a upstanding body(sarcasm) like the RIAA would not want to be associated with a site that contained said porn area..
Hope this in some way makes u think about it...
I have no particularly strong view on this one.
I am in fact totally apathetic about it.
I couldn't care less.
I just wanted to make that perfectly clear.
So basically fill your boots.
Or not.
Whatever.
Just leave me out of it.
Stop badgering me.
I've told you how I feel.
So STFU and leave me alone.
FFS let it go.
No - look after the young people
Great post, evildon. You make a lot of excellent points. Like J'Pol I really don't care one way or the other, but it is kind of weird that people keep saying we should protect the children when the whole basis of this forum is ILLEGAL file sharing. I guess some people would rather have their kids become theives than, God forbid, see a little nudity. ;)Quote:

Is there nudity involved, well maybe I should reconsider.

2) This is still a filesharing board, not a porn site. This board may not support COPPA (maybe?) but nudity still isn't allowed here.

I understand it's a secret ballot..but I am adressing the ones that dont have the nerve to even cast a vote even if they like porn because ot the social guilt factor..have known people who go to strip clubs but deny it. Know ADULTS who wont even buy condoms evn tho the clerk doesnt know them because of shame?!
1)I see what u mean but of course some might say a forum about filesharing material much of it copyrighted already attracts "the wrong people" just as bad as a porn sight...it attracts in some eyes thieves and cheats and criminals..hell am waiting for the RIAA to get smart and use The Homeland Security Act to shut all this down...No telling what files and maps and blueprints and secret messages that terrorists can send to one another using this...not to mention some terrorist created virus that is spread thru P2P...and no way to know whether they are using this forum and software that they have learned about here to do it..they are the wrong crowd if there ever was one...so should we shut this whole forum down because of this? And no way to know if they are already here
2) neither is it a music site...nor any other specific type of site..it is supposed to be a fileswapping site and porn is one of the top files that is swapped on P2P.
i said yeah for the hell of it
See, but nobody here has to admit they watch porn. They can just vote, run away, and tell nobody about it. I understand the stigmatism that might go on IRL, but that's exactly the reason people deny whatever to other people.Quote:

Yes but some wont admit it even to themselves..which is scary....there was a movie star that would collect porn for a while then burn it every so often just out of guilt of owning it...
BTW..can someone please define"The Wrong Crowd.." this phrase popped up as a reason and its been bugging me.Exactly what is the wrong crowd that a porn section would attract?
Rapists? pedos? what?...I am sure both of these sickos know about P2P or have access to finding out about it...especially since P2p and filesharing is like the number one hit on goggle for almost f++king forever...so am sure they already come here to get the latest updates on software and codex talk...so...please..tellme who this wrong crowd is and whats keeping them from coming here now?
this should be interesting...
I watch porn...all day long :01: :P
So i voted Yes.
i don't see anything wrong in a pornsection.
Those who like it can go there, and if you don't like it don't go there.
It's as simple as that B)
And "wrong crowd"
i suppose the place will be moderated as any other forum,so if there's a "wrong crowd" posting or discussing wrong stuff they'll suffer the consequences and be banned,i guess/hope <_<
Porn isn't wrong,so i don't see why it would attract wrong people.
Heck,Joe Average watches porn.People with a family watch porn.
Seniors watch porn....WE ALL WATCH PORN!!!(...except for the pope maybe, but he can't even hold his head up,let alone.... )
Just give it a try and see how it turns out.
Hey, I got nothing against porn man.
It's just that something like this might attract kidnappers (we have children here too), people who collect / trade KP, etc.
Like I said, each to his own. :)
No
Its not as if the people that want to see porn cant get it easily enough.
Myself included in that remark :P
On the other hand, if you do create a porn site..erm i mean an adult talking site...then at least it isnt part of this board.
However please just give me the URL..dont put a link here :P
Give me a day or two and i'll have it up and running :lol:Quote:

I think those kind of people are more likely to be found in chatrooms then on message boards.A board has a better overview on members and their actions then a simple chat.Quote:

But yah,i do get your point though.
A direct link to it might not be such a good idea, eventhough i doubt that the children these days are that easely misguided by person impersonating someone they're not.And those who are probably don't feel the need to visit an adult filesharing talk.Let allone that they would be active posters there.
Maybe a good option is to only post the link to it on this board,so only people that are members here can register there( with the same username they have in here).
 That of course assumes that there are no children on this board to begin with.
Porn is fine, although I don't know if I want it connected to here.
However, there may be file sharing issues for those downloading porn that is unique to porn files, in which case I think it is ok.
As for the children, I think our youngest appear to be around 13ish. They are already pretty worldly wise for being involved in filesharing and so are probably not unaware of what likely material is to be found on the Internet.
They will continue to make the choices they have been making and we would just have to trust them (or root em out...Mods could have fun here, marching em out of the forum by the virtual ear! )
Also if it was members only password protected (perhaps by subscription to the forum Mod so modesty could be maintained for those who feel uncomfortable with EVERYONE knowing they watch porn  ) this could possibly work.
My thoughts exactly ;)Quote:

I am sure there are children on this forum and they have parents who raise them...
and since these children have access to a computer then the parents being responsible adults have taken steps to insure their morals or taken steps to protect them..or at least they should..we should take reasonable steps to aid in this up to a point....but not past said point where it begins to compromise the concept of free speech and filesharing... I mean if this is stealing then the parents are already condoning that and so are we by not trying to kep minors off here...Parents need to be parents....its a tough full-time job...but they knew that going in..or should...(going in? parents?..slight pun..oh well..)
BTW:I appreciate everyone's veiws and posts and all....I wonder how many would change their votes? too late now of course...
good postQuote:

I like the dual membership thng..that way if someone does cause some type of problem they will loose both memeberships...and it can be tied direcly to active members on here as well which means u wont have as many trolls...or whatever..lurkers?..think thats it...
No
I think thats a big board no then
Why do you call it adult when you really mean porn?
porn.filesharingtalk.com/index.php that would be more precise
Euphemisms...
I know a sanitary engineer. :D
