The '04 Pontiac GTO kicks ass. "At 70mph its only using 37% of its power." That damn thing has to be hella fast.
The '04 GTO is a rebranded Holden Monaro with an ugly makeover for the US market.Quote:

I was conceived in a '67 FB, must be why I have such a passion for them. :) Dad smashed it up a year after I was born though. :(

The McLaren F1 LM puts out 660bhp from a 6.1 litre naturally aspirated engine. Your Shelby needs a supercharger to match that specific power. The LM also only weighs 1062kg, giving a power to weight ratio of 621bhp/tonne.Quote:

Your Shelby produces 750bhp but weighs 1490kg, giving a power to weight of 'only' 503bhp/tonne.
Also, remember that the Shelby is based on a car which is nearly 40 years old, the F1 is only 12-13 years old and the technology used on the F1 is hardly dated. The only real development which has transpired since the birth of the F1 is carbon ceramic disc brakes.
In any situation, be it quarter mile strip, racing track or road driving, the McLaren F1 LM is far superior to the Shelby.
Indeeds, opinions are one thing, specs quite another :)
The Shelby is also running on 245/40s all round, the F1 LM runs on 275/35 18s up front and 345/35 18s at the back.Quote:

That's a lot more rubber in contact with the road...a lot more grip.

Being an automotive technician I would love to get the chance to look under the hoods of both the Shelby and the F1. Even though I am a Ford man my heart belongs to the Mclaren always has always will.
A nice choice indeed. Here are a few short clips of the M3 GTR testing at the Nordschleife:Quote:

nice one amp
mc's nice....i prefer rally style man the viper...bad boy!!!!!!!!!!
hi people...dream car's eh...well i used to do some car valeting in a posh place in the south of england...i found the 911 turbo a nice one to drive...rolls royces...they seemed to wallow about a lot...anything opened topped got you looks...especially a ferrari 360 spider! over all tho, i enjoyed porsches the most, closely follwed by the bmw x5...people seemed to move out the way, especially pedestrians
smart car love them
Personally, I've always hated so called "SUVs", largely due to the fact that they're so unsafe to other road users.Quote:

Anyway, here's a short clip of a slightly tuned X5, the X5 Le Mans :)
Sorry it's so short, but I'm running out of space on the site at the moment.
Nice choice indeed. I like bentlys to.Quote:

here is my dream car.
http://www.lingenfelter.com/images/8420wb.JPG
Faster than a McLaren F1 LM the Lingenfelter Corvette Twin Turbo has specs such as the following
Approx Price $165,000
Horsepower 802hp @ 4600 rpm
Torque 866ft lbs @ 3600 rpm
1/4 Mile 9.2 secs @ 150mph
0-60mph 2.0 secs
Top Speed 240mph
now there has been debate over the times, but they vary by the type of tire you use, but Motor Trend gives these specs so that is what I belive. So for almost a tenth of the price you get a car that is faster and that dosent cost as much as some families income to fix. Also you dont have to send it to Britan if it ever gets broken as Jay Leno says, "Its a chevy and I can fix it with a hammer."
Also on the note of leno he owns a Enzo, McLaren and a Corvette and he drives the Corvette the most because he can fix it.
hey gen (this is not abuse!) the reason i said i liked the X5 is cos it has more sterdy feel than things like the disco or ML55...the inside design is gorgeous and the outside looks pretty slick too. never got to drive a viper tho...had a go in a bentley tho...took me a few mins to work out how to start it...bloody buttons to start a car...prefer the traditional key myself
I've had this debate many a time...Quote:

Faster than a McLaren F1 LM the Lingenfelter Corvette Twin Turbo has specs such as the following
The Lingenfelter is faster than a McLaren F1 when accelerating in a straight line (i.e. on a dragstrip).
It is NOT faster than the McLaren F1 LM in any other situation (race track, road situation, braking).
If you only want your dream car to be able to go quickly in a straight line then that's fine, but you're being a little ignorant to the full abilities of the car.
;)
edit: almost forgot. The only reason the Lingenfelter is faster than a McLaren F1 in a straight line is because it uses drag tyres. Put the F1 LM on the same tyres as the Lingenfelter and the acceleration times would be very similar. The F1 LM has a superior power to weight ratio. 621bhp/tonne for the F1 LM versus 528bhp/tonne for the Lingenfelter ;)
Forgot to mention that I'm also quite partial to TVRs.
Any model, they're all incredible.
Yeah, totally agree with you. Light, powerful cars, little or nothing in the way of driver aid.Quote:

Any car that can spit flame at command gets my attention. The Ferrari F40 (video here) is no exception :)
The Godess.
Though my favourite would be a '65 DS Pallas.
Still on sale - the DMC-12
Only 13 exist - the DB5 "Shooting Brake"
Abarth OT2000 coupé - does 150 mph without breaking a sweat.
This is a very interesting car... :D
tvr's and lotus elise both have one thing in common...you need to be about 4 ft to own one...driven both, no room at all, not the most comfy
The Exige I was in wasn't too bad (and I'm not the smallest guy in the world ;) )Quote:
