You can get 10mb cable in Australia either from optus(strict capping after qouta to 28k yes slower than dial up) or you can go with Telstra Unlimited* for $AU59 of which you may be capped(64k) after a 10gb qouta but usally people can download between 10 - 100gb before there capped... :D
Both Optus and Telstra stopped rolling HFC cable years ago because it was losing money, Telstra is currently trialling fibre to the curb but who knows how long if ever this will be rolled out in oz..

I expect it's more of a guidline for NTL something that they can use against you if they feel that you are "abusing" your connection.Quote:

I'm surprised they haven't written to you about it, if you go over so often.Quote:

I'm on the 150k, and so I would rarely go over 1gb anyway (not that I really want so many files as that).
Maybe when they put the speed up later this summer though, it will be a lot easier for people to go over 1gb a day, I wonder what NTL will do then.
With a 3mb connection what speed would you download at? Around 380KB/s?
About that...I can't wait. :DQuote:

I wonder if I should change to Telewest. Do you need a BT phone line?
Well the house I live in has a BT line but Telewest is cable anyhow. As long as you're in an area covered by them they will set you up.Quote:

If you visit their site and enter your postcode you can find out if your covered.
http://www.telewest.co.uk/home/index.htm
Guess I'm stuck with NTL then. :( I wonder why Telewest would reccomend NTL, are they in some way affiliated? :unsure:Quote:
The postcode you have entered is outside the Telewest Broadband
cabled area. Unfortunately, this means it is not possible to offer
you any of our services at present.
You may be in an area serviced by NTL. You can contact NTL directly
via their website.
From what I heard Telewest own NTL as NTL is in mass amount of debt, But I could be wrong.
If NTL is anything like Blueyonder I highly recommend you try them.
I'm on NTL right now(600k soon to be 750k). I just wanted faster speeds.
Oh yea , The speeds should be the same as Blueyonder's pretty soon. I asked Telewest why my speed has improved as it wasn't due to end of May and they said they're running ahead of schedule so NTL is sure to be upgraded soon with a bit of luck you might get it before the date they state.
bout i always felt sorry for ur brits with ur slower connection..... i live in the broadband capital of the world ....detroit,michigan ... yes that right the most and fastest broad band connections are right here in detroit..... yes i typed that 15 years ago. That aged like milk in the sun
