Sorry for no updates! Ive been extremly busy this summer! I am going to south padre island for a week this coming week so hopefully that weekend I can update!
I'm looking for a good AGP Graphic Card as I've just bought a new powerful machine.
A young friend of Mine recommended -> PowerColor Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB DDR AGP (I've a Soltek Mini Barebone)
Anyone here has this card? Or know anything about it?
All replies are much appreciated :)
And by the way, a god damn nice pinned topic this is!!
TIA,
BOT
You'll probably get more repsonses if u make a thread about this, but...Quote:

And yes, the 9800Pro is an EXCELLENT card.
What are the differences between a 70$ card and a 250$ card?
And I read that the human eyes can't tell the difference between 30 fps and 80 fps..
it's the perforamnce of the card that counts (determine by memory speeds and gpu speeds) not just by the amount of vram it has.Quote:

a 6800ultra could have 64mb of vram and beat the pants off an mx440 with 256mb of vram.
Note: The 6800 doesn't come in 64mb size, and the mx440 does not come in 256mb size.

Correct. Ram does not matter near as much as some things.
Memory Interface size, core speed, memory speed, and pixel pipelines are probably some of the most important.
And yes I hear 30FPS is perfect to the human eye so I guess more doesnt really matter...but cards that run 30FPS will often drop to 5 or 10 making it horrible. Cards that run 100FPS will only drop to like 50 or 60...making it still perfect. Also, the more FPS you pull, the more filtering you can add, and that makes the games look alot better.
Is intel extreme graphics good? I will be getting it in my new DEll 2400.
Bleh i think that it is a software graphic card

make sure the dell has an agp slot on it so u can upgrade later on.
Oh no its has 3 PCI slots...
But is it ok to play games made in 2002?
Yeah the salesguy told me to take a pc wth pci as it is newer than agp
Salesguys dont know shit usually....Quote:

I sent you a PM and you never responded, but make sure you dont get the 2400 with a celeron, get the pentium 4
WTF, PCI better than AGP?! They should of fired that dumb-ass salesguy on the spot. :angry:Quote:

Problem solved
AGP stands for Accelerated Graphics Port btw.
4x/8x AGP slots are much faster than any PCI slot, so the best graphics cards are allways AGP.
you got a 3.6Ghz P4 in a shitty 2400 from dell....You should have saved some more money up and gotten the 8300.Quote:

Um i sent you a pm back. Yeah i got a pentium 4 3.6 ghz. Anyway its a bit crappy. The graphicd are really bad. As if this wasnt enough i put my pc to defragment but there was a power cut. When i restarted the pc, there was a blue screen:
Windows did not load properly because of either a hardware or a software change you may have made. I rebooted the pc. The dell screen appeared as usual but after the was a dark screen with a blinking cursor. Ah windows wont boot :( :( :( :( :(

Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering are things used to smooth the image. Basicly they just make the graphics look smoother, but also hurt performance. That is a good card, but not having at least 8 pipelines is hurting its performance..It should be default set to application based...so a game will turn it on if u can use it.
I dont want to post benchmarks of the new cards really yet...I prob will end up doing it. It is so confrentational right now lol they are so close...Im starting to think the 6800Ultra is the best though, especially since there is talk bout the x800xt pe being cancled...if it isnt already.

but why r9600xt can beat nvidia5900xt over high benchmark?
Because the ati dx9 cards then ati..like 9800 and 5900 series. I would still take the 5900XT over the 9600XT though...Quote:

V. useful post, thanks my friend.
I have a lowly FX5200 at the moment. Maybe time to spend some BigBucks...
Thanks again.
:)
Aight this should be in hardware world and here...more people will see it in hardware world I think...cant you put it in both..? If not, I think it would be better placed in Hardware.

Or move all guides here to amke it a common thing to say "go to teh guide section" instead of like "look in teh top of hardware world, or maybe it';s software, or no look in the guides section...hell jsut check them all" lol.Quote:
