They do it most years
@RF......Yeah but they made a major shift in the allowences, last tax year it was £1500 you paid 10% on and 27,000 before high rate, they actually gave us a break :)
@MJPF.......Yeah thanks for that :frusty: the only thing that does is they work out how much you gotta pay, usually do that as I fill in the form anyway, does'nt take much :) I'll do it after xmas like last year :01:
I spose it would be a good idea to pay last years bill too
Jonno
The end of September thing is bollocks, when you think about it.
They work the tax out whether you put a figure into the box or not. If you've done it incorrectly they will correct you, send you a letter about it and ammend your bill accordingly. They mislead you into getting your form in early cause they get all stressed and overworked in January, I reckon.
Bah! taxmen!! (Sorry, RF ;) )
I dissagree with the reason there Manky, I reckon it's to get it all sorted and get your money early, ok so your few grand wont make much difference but 10 million people's few grand earns a lot of interest in the bank ;)

I don't do them either.
Funnily enough though they never return any tax to me either :(
@Manky.....What? how much interest does the tax office gain by getting a figure like , say 2 grand per person, 10 million people do it early, so that/s £20,000,000,000, how much interest would they get on that over 4 months?
I got em sussed ;)
@RF.......What do you do then?

Im a Civil Servant Jonno :P
Exactly, mate. I was having a joke with my stressed out comment. :DQuote:

I guessed that  You wer'nt gonna be a rig worker in the same place as tax office :frusty:
I mean what you do? :)

And yes, I know it's partly to do with staffing probs, but my theory makes em sound nastier

@RF....Ahhh I see :) Fair enough, that would explain your hovering before posting sometimes
Offices, Shops, Factories, Houses, Land...
If it dont move, i'll measure it :P
PAYE is a perfect example of the Inland Revenue getting their money early.Quote:

The due date for payment is always Jan 31st unless it's the second payment on account in which case it is July 31st. September 30th is only significant if you want them to work out the tax for you, it's not a payment deadline of any sort ;)
That's not what it says on this tax return I have
What do you do for a living? :)
Jonno
No it isn't.Quote:

This would cause problems for the company in the long run but technically they (IR) cannot impose any fines upon the company until then.
It says it on the notes that it came with.Quote:

Because the IR require it monthly throughout the tax year, this is technically before it is due so you cannot use it for your purposes.Quote:

I'm sure of the rules regarding both PAYE and SA. Completely sure.Quote:

Ok guys guys guys, come on, tax ain't worth arguing over :)
I think it largely comes down to your own experience, what I said comes from mine, MJPF's from his and Manky's from his, so we all do things different, thats what makes us human :)
