[news=http://www.slyck.com/newspics/elitetorrent.jpg]EliteTorrents.org Hacked
The BitTorrent community has seen its fair share of indexing sites go offline - whether voluntarily or involuntarily. Sites like LokiTorrent, UK-Torrents, s0nikfreak, TVTorrents and YouceffTorrents have all either fallen under the weight of the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America.) Today, it appeared another website has fallen, EliteTorrents.org.
The homepage of this website was replaced with a permanent shutdown notice, purportedly announced by the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) and U.S. Customs. The FBI is under the United States Department of Justice, while U.S. Customs is under the Department of Homeland Security.
EliteTorrents.org is hosted in the United States, however the owner lives in the Netherlands. The involvement of both departments would seem logical, considering the geographical coverage of the torrent site.
However, while one’s initial reaction may lead an individual to believe EliteTorrents.org is under a criminal investigation, further examination challenges this thought.
1) The neither FBI nor U.S. Customs has never directly or exclusively shut down any torrent site. All site closures have been the result of an MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) action or investigation.
2) An odd message on the bottom right of EliteTorrents.org states “RTJKAS.” This message only appears when the page is highlighted.
3) The topic message on EliteTorrent.org IRC channel states, “Topic is 'Site: Down | Tracker: Up | Forums: Down | Radio: OFF | News : Site will be up when it's fixed. Stop asking.'”
4) The topic message on thier IRC channel now states, "Latest news:ET Was DNS Hacked (sithlord.)"
From the evidence presented, in all likely circumstances this is an elaborate hack, followed by an equally elaborate hoax. In fact the job is so elaborate, if one does an IP/Domain name trace, it ultimately ends at www.dhs.gov (Department of Homeland Security.) Incidentally, this sophisticated portion of this current circumstance is the only real counter-evidence to suggest that it may in fact be a true enforcement action. Slyck.com has contacted the FBI newsroom and awaits confirmation or denial of this situation.[/news]
Call me retarted and all but isnt contacting the FBI asking if they shutdown my torrent site that I use for pirating kinda dumb? I mean say they didnt and it is a hoax, prolly wouldnt be long before they shut it down. Feels like asking a cop, sorry mr officer sir, did you happen to take my cocaine?
Maybe its me who knows lol
the site would have looked better if the fbi shut it down
I have a feeling the site will be back at one time or another.
OMFG... let us all mourn the fall of ET   . I have a hunch this is a joke, because i read some where that ET is out of the jurisdiction of the US.
http://elitetorrents.org/
On the elitetorrents site, there is a big red site now claiming the FBi busted them and anyone using it is in trouble. Is this true?
they act like they lose so much money when in reality, people using sites like that have absolutely no plan on buying the software/movie, etc anyway. I cant necessarily blame them, I'd hate to have my hard work stolen too, but part of the fault is because of the MPAA and RIAA. They should try to protect their own stuff, like computer games and such. They should assume the full responsibility of their own wares.
Its like trying to say you broke the law because you downloaded a tv episode. When its perfectly legal to use tivo or record it on a vcr for later viewing. heh

yes stop seeding... iam sure all the ip's have been logged and alot of ppl can expect letters from the fucking mpaa gah... how gay... it will just move somewhere else!
why is immigration involve in this?
good question. I think they have used their power to somehow get involved in an Tracker that was based in the US, but the site owner was from the NLQuote:
