My bastard of a graphics card fan makes too much noise for me to sleep with the computer turned on.
Tried turning up all other fans in my case to their max speeds, and the level of noise hardly increased one iota.
I'll buy that... :lol:Quote:

nope the humming noise from the fans drives me insane
It's better to leave it running then to start stop it all the time... at least it is for HD and other mechanical parts... ;)Quote:

It's been on for over a month now i think, but will be shutting it down tonight for reformat :)
I've got two loud systems near my bed. I've found that I actually can't sleep anymore without the blissful sound of all my fans. :happy:Quote:

But I set up all my maint. programs to run @ 2:00 am , like defrag , Giant , etc. Seems so much better just wake up grab a coffee I'm set to go . I don't believe the crap about it using that much electricity leaving it on all the time .
Almost 10 days up now, my irc logs would be un complete if I turned it off.
I leave mine on 24/7 I dont think I've turned my Pc off in the last month
I think it's unwise to leave on 24/7. I believe hardware especially non-server hardware wears faster being left on. People say switching causes surges, the switches etc. etc. The lifecycle of parts justs lasts longer when not being used 24/7.
