Any suggestions?
Start a hardware thread? I'm ignorant when it comes to this sound related stuff.
I just fought my way through adding HDMI to my now aged sound system, and I would have to assume (based on my experience with that) that there would be an output change in one of the menus. It is hard to tell exactly because of all the possible hardware/software configurations. It could be a setting specific to the input on the stereo. It could have to do with the output on the PC.
Really hard to tell without knowing the equipment. I had to split the audio portions from the video, and input via either optical or coaxial digital. it was a real PITA.

The problem is basically that my pc won't detect the receiver, only the tv the receiver is plugged in to, thus not allowing me to output 5.1 from the pc. I read something about an edid override but I haven't a clue where to begin with that.

Re: Last one to post wins the internets
Doesn't bother me like it used to. Before the app store had a brazillion apps it was irritating not being able to go elsewhere in search of apps. I no longer find myself needing to do that. I really have no complaints.

Re: Last one to post wins the internets
So, it's "iPad 2" and "the new iPad." That is a bit confusing...

I do hate to harp on, but try a straight HDMI connect to the receiver (without the splitter in the way) to see if this resolves the detection problem. That is the next step to see what is happening anyway. I will do some research on the receiver (particularly the version of the HDMI inputs) but how old is it btw?

I'll give that a try tomorrow and see how it goes. I did have a problem with the xbox not putting out 5.1 sound too which was solved by skipping the splitter. I'm not sure how old the amp is.

No price increase.
This is a response to the already released Kal-El chipset based android tablets like the Asus transformer prime. They are based on the Tegra3 quadcore cpu's with NVidia GPU + 64GB SSD's, so it is a case of catch up by Apple in this case.
It is becoming a tough call in terms of functionality whether you go the Apple way and use iOS based devices or Google and use Android devices. I will say I much prefer Android Honeycomb as an OS for my tablet over iOS, having used both an Android tablet and an iPad extensively, but I suppose it is horses for courses. I much prefer the ability to customise my android devices.

Bo's just using you, you know. He'll be away now to watch and listen to his Linda Lusardi dvd in high definition and 5.1 surround and he won't talk to you again until he breaks it.

I think it's more to do with Bo's shellfish hardware spam. I actually nodded off twice before I could post anything.
It's more interesting if you summarise it:
Bo: Hoi, cawks, how do I do this thing?
The Bored: Try this thing.
Bo: I've already done that thing and it works, how do I do this other thing?
The bored: Try this thing.
Bo: It works better the way I already had it, cawks.
The Bored: orite, cheers.
Bo: np :smilie4:
Basic template above for any and all of Bo's tech help queries since 2004 ftw.

It's a fair term, though euphemistic. The family units weren't born on the street after all.

You seem to be headed down a dark path, z. First thinking about buying an iPad, now wandering the streets drunk and homeless, lyke. How would you get the $50, BTW? I feel cheated not receiving some walking around money, myself...

Good to know you are hanging in there. Are you running out of blood yet? Getting pale, or anything? A steady diet of alcohol mixed with regular blood loss can't be good for the health long-term.
