Another DDos, 1000% increase in our BW, hosts have no option but to shut us off (or my bill will be astronomical, it still might be yet).
I hope this doesnt take us down, but even I have to admit its not looking good and its a right PITA :(

Shame the host would wait until your bill reached nearly a year's worth before pulling the plug.
Well they did say they are trying not to charge us anything, but i will find out on the 31st what the damage is, if anything, but its killing us, I cant even afford cloudflare @ $200 a month or i would have got it 2 weeks ago :(
You've long been one of the straight-shooters of the community, stoi. Very little controversy (although some try occasionally, right) associated with your site. I expect members will step up to help right the ship.
Too bad technology is such that children can disrupt sites with off-the-shelf water pistols...

DDos = No site = No donations = Fucked
but hopefully it will all just go away and we will be fine (or is that just too easy)

It really is such a PITA this.
Not just the above but quite a few other sites.
If you have the pennies, Cloudflare is a godsend, but if not, well, good old irc, I suppose, and facebook :)

For EMP, they should be back next week and it is not a ddos anymore. According to irc chat they know the problem, have a solution and are testing then implementing it.

Yeah, seriously, why so many people have an axe to grind with DDoSing trackers is beyond me, why not DDoS a legitimate target...like...Steam. Who's TOS and totalitarian policies are an absolute shit down the throat of their users, and for a private company who's worth billions to have worse customer support than a 1 man website deserves to be fucked with more than a tracker that freely serves it's users and operates on donations. I just don't understand the values of the script kiddie DDoS idiots, go after people or companies that are actually worth sending a message too. Not a bittorrent tracker which hurts literally nobody. The Sony PSN takedown was a good message to send, but I guess DDoSing Steam and maintaining that attack for extended periods requires a bit more skill than a couple script kids have learned...
I know a couple people in network and private security who could probably track down a lot of these people who DDoS and idiotically claim responsibility. There are a lot of "operators" in the Blackhat scene who could really lend a hand a giving a couple of these people a taste of their own medicine, maybe even bit more.
I would rather prefer MS being taken down Sony has been more consumer friendly.
