Any news when BCG is going to be up
Does any know the alternative IRC for BCG?. I removed it from my client when things appeared to be going smoothly again.
The alternative IRC for BCG isn't online any more I'm afraid, it was only set-up when we expected BCG to be going offline for a considerable amount of time in December 2013 since we were unsure about the future of the site, the reason is no longer relevant as this problem was fully resolved. The recent downtime however wasn't expected and has been caused entirely by another DDoS attack on top of various previous attacks, the host has been forced to null route BCG's server again temporarily (disconnected it from the network) to regain control, unfortunately this time it's taking a good while.
BCG will be back although I'm afraid at the moment there is still no definite time estimate and it's simply a case of being patient at the moment I'm afraid.
TSH, site is up again but not so sure about their tracker.
edit: and tracker seems to be back, and no one should be IP banned in error.
BCG is back up.
TL down?

Site under massive DDoS attack ! We are working on it with our ddos provider thank you for your patience!
BCG appears to be down again. :(
Damn ddos script kiddy bastards have nothing better to do than take down such an awesome and useful site.
I hope this is over quicker than last time...
BCG down again? :(
Unfortunately I can confirm it's caused by yet another DDoS attack. I hoped we would only be null routed by the host for an hour or two this time for it to pass, but over 5 hours on so far it doesn't look like they're going to leave us alone so quickly. We can only sit this out again until it does eventually pass, hopefully we won't be down too long this time, but nothing is guaranteed with these relentless attacks I'm sorry to say. :(
Are these "bedroom kiddies" ddos attacks on the trackers by disgruntled ex-members or other sites jealous of the success etc, or something more sinister by those with money & power? :ermm:
It's pretty clever how they manage to combine a protocol feature like that (designed when security was much less relevant or a non-issue) with IP spoofing to lure third parties into carrying over the actual heavy traffic.
Reminds me of that 2007 DDoS that used BitTorrent as an attack vector by injecting a fake announce URL pointing to the victim, and I believe a DHT bootstrap IP, into popular torrents. The result: dozens of thousands of clients constantly and silently hammering this "tracker". Those downloading would notice nothing, because the files themselves were legitimate.
In both cases the attacker uses very little bandwidth himself, but brings the target to its knees.
Did I say "mum"? I meant yer hawt cousin. :yup:
If that's indeed the case expect the indexers to get hit next. That'll be hilarious.
As for the technique itself: it's scary how many appliances run ntpd or other servers an end user may not even know about. Why urpf and bcp38 aren't more widely implemented in 2014 is ridiculous.
Or they are just some pissed off Brazilian kids

BCG back online again after yet another ddos, I wish whoever is behind it would please be really nice and give us a break this time at least. :)
PS: Only the tracker offline at the time of writing, but we should sort this soon.
Update: Tracker fixed now too, everything up and running!
Tracker is up :)
Sorry folks, BCG is back down again for the time being, no eta at the moment.
The hosts ISP have us on 24/7 watch, if the traffic impacts the network they are null routing the IP, well... as you can guess, we have been hit yet again :(
We seriously need to find out who's doing this and end it. If you want me to direct you to a few people I know IRL who deal in private security, who also have a decades worth of whitehat/black experience, let me know. They'll find this fucker/s in no time, that's what their paid to do, find people who attempt to be "anonymous". Then you can suggest what is done with any personal identity information that's obtained about them. If it were me, I'd post their entire personal identity info on Pastebin and other like sites as well as their credit/debit card info and bank login info, as well as any PayPal info that's found. I'd crucify the fucker and see if anybody else has the balls to try it again.
BCG is back up again and has been for about 1 hour at the time of writing, hoping we will stay that way for a lot longer at least this time! :)
What happened with ChinaHDTV?
Gone forever. Trying it again though. http://www.hd4fans.org/signup.php?sitelanguage=6
BCG just gone down again, the 24/7 host watch for abnormal traffic that affects the network has most likely null routed us again, but I didn't notice any problems just before like I usually do so unsure if it was a ddos or not as yet. Hoping we won't be down too long this time, but can't be sure.
Update: Back up again 10 mins later. :)
Update: Null routed again a few minutes after attempting to come back online again and it does now look like yet another ddos after all. We are working on trying to resolve the situation, but no eta at the moment I'm afraid. :(
Update: Expecting to be offline for a few days, maybe even a bit longer this time, but we are working on the problem and hopefully we will stay online when we do return next time. Please bear with us and thank you for everyone's support.
RMT down
is bitmetv down? it says 403 forbidden to me
thanks
iplay.ro down
Our DNS server is down. The server itself which is hosting RMT website if just fine but without dns is unreachable. iPLAY team, our big brother is trying hard to solve the problem but we can not provide a date when everything will be back as it should. Until then you may try a little trick: just add this line into your hosts file c:\\\\WINDOWS\\\\system32\\\\drivers\\\\etc\\\\hosts: to be able to resolve the DNS: 84.247.80.243 metal.iplay.ro 84.247.80.250 irc.iplay.ro for access the irc server I repeat: We do NOT manage the *.iplay.ro DNS server and we are waiting for iPLAY STAFF to solve the problem.
