Nice - Very nice riddle :) You almost broke me from my nasty little habit - Note that I said 'almost' ;)
:P Actually, the best part of that one was the responses.....seriously, you guys are funny as hell ! I'm constantly amazed by the quick minds of the folks on this board. :D
Ok, here's another....you might need a pen and paper for this one;
At a recent high school reunion, the computer seemed to spit out numbers instead of letters on some of the name tags. Can you decipher what the first names of these people are?
31770
317537
31573
I think I know the middle one 'Leslie'?
i guess the others are Ollie and Elsie?Quote:

Hmm... Could be. :rolleyes:
ROFL - I can't believe I didn't get that one right away :D I'm sorry guys, but it looks like DLE and Gkraker have got it. I'll explain it for the less interlectually gifted so they know what you two figured out :D
You can try decrypting this names with any code involved numbers & a cypher (e.g. the common A-1 code with variations) and spend a lifetime try to get it (like I almost did :rolleyes:). This is not a puzzle where you read between the lines - It's a puzzle where you just plain see.
The text is written in "Calculator Code" - For anyone above the age of 30, a school trick used by immature pupils to pass boring lessons by writing any half-explicit phrase ("Boobless", for example <_<). You type a specific set of numbers and you read the display upside down to see words spelt out. This is what this puzzle is.
Type in any of the words into a calculator, and you'll see the names mentioned. To make it simple, I'll do the key here for those cipher-loyalists around here :P [COLOR=red]0 = O, 1 = I, 3 = E, 5 = S, 7 = L. Those translated equal
31770 = OLLIE
317537 = LESLIE
31573 = ELSIE
Congrats to Gkraker and DLE for that - Now it'll be interesting who gets the cigar for this one that I've missed one for a change :D
