I can't even find a "R" version for sale so :idunno:
Maybe it stands for "Retail"?
god i can't believe this thread is still floating around, lol tis madness. I can't be assed looking through the rest of the thread what else has happened to your pc w/c wise?
Umm, well Dan where did you leave off? It had an accident when a hose came free during operation. Then it say for a while as my lazy ass lost my nerve, now I got it back and am building her back up again with a new CPU/Mobo. Time is short so it's taking too long but I'll be doing more this week shirley ;)
lol fair doos fella:) is your missus on board with building up your pc:p
Lol never!!!
Semi-threadjack time.
I finally got around to installing the EK block you so graciously donated to Sprocket.
I was waiting for a CPU block so I could break the loop but once, unfortunately my "friend" with the block is a lazy barsteward and never came through, so I went ahead without it.
No way to compare "before/after" results.
The smart thing to do would have been just swapping the GPU block but I seem unable to make incremental changes and instead made sweeping changes to the whole computer.
I remade the front panel (not a big performance mod but a significant aesthetic improvement), changed the pump top, added a different reservoir and eliminated the northbridge block in favor of a Thermalright sink with fan.
Also reconfigured the HDDs and reloaded the OS with Win7 RC1 (64-bit , build 7057).
To top it off, the weather jumped into the mid-seventies, so pretty much nothing is the same as before.
A teaser shot of the hastily assembled setup...

All this was squeezed on top of another project I'm involved in...cramming a 1996 Camaro V-8 engine into a 1993 Mazda RX-7.

I've been a busy boy...so busy that I was unable to hit the post office yesterday but I promise to get there today.
Really...promise.
OK, end threadjack.
Looks good man. Let me ask you how do you mount those cross braces going up/down, left/right? Are they just screwed in. Also is that a blue LED on the ram cooler!!!! :P
On the engine, where do you work on it? Is the engine new or rebuilt? What would posses you to do such a thing??
Yup, just screwed in.
We're working in his home garage.
He bought the car last March- in "running" condition- and had been chasing down problems ever since.
His back problems (he's scheduled for surgery in a month) have hindered progress, so he put a notice in the RX-7 forum and I responded.
The engine is a pull from a 1996 Camaro that supposedly has had all sorts of performance work done to it- I can't confirm or deny that since we only got it running last weekend and there is still a lot to do before it's semi-driveable.
"What would possess you to do such a thing"?
Put a stonkin huge American V-8 into one of the best handling sportscars of the last 20 years...hmmm, isn't that what Carroll Shelby did to create the original Cobra?
Why yes, yes it is.
