What is the latest movie you watched and what did you think of it?

I just watched Transformers 2 in 1080p. I thought that the movie was really good along with the picture which was unbelievable. It is a must see especially in bluray.

lol ment awesome. the movie had alot of action in it the blood was a little to much over the top of tryin to be real but seein people get legs, heads, and bodys dismembered was tight

I'm this you ,I don't know why they don't have a special category at the Oscars ,"shite movies that have merit because of scenes of dismemberment ".
Although I really think they should add a " best gratuitous nudity " category first.

The Bad Lieutenant-Port of Call:New Orleans- Nic Cage.
If you're a fan of Cage going completely over the top, batshit insane, well, this is your new favorite film.

Cage plays a New Orleans cop with a drug habit that would stun Hunter Thompson. He careens through New Orleans doing bad cop things that never seem to catch up to him, in fact, by the end he's promoted to Captain.

Two iguanas give the most restrained, nuanced performances, adding a much needed touch of humanity to the movie.
The whole thing seemed pointless to me, it gets a rating of "MEH".

A thoughtful, adult science fiction tale- think 2001: A Space Odyssey, not Alien.
At least till the end that is, then things get a little weird with the introduction of a boogey man and some hyper, jump cut/freeze frame editing.
Some clever inside jokes...the name "Pinbeck" is from the urfilm Dark Star and the space suits are clearly modeled on South Park's Kenny.

I couldn't figure out how Jackson Browne was cast as a physicist...turns out it was actually Cillian Murphy (Breakfast On Pluto, so, my bad.

I kinda liked this one.
Director Danny Boyle actually spent some time introducing and developing the characters before accelerating the pace (and killing them off) and the special effects were plausible.

State of Play- Russell Crowe.
Compare and contrast to All the President's Men for a lesson in how stories are told today compared to the olden '70's.

A newspaper writer uncovers a wide ranging conspiracy and attempts to piece it together.
Naturally, the plodding legwork involved would fail to excite today's audience, so the action (and soundtrack) is amped up to keep our short attention spans engaged.

The film is based on a BBC mini-series (which I have to "obtain" but am searching for).

There is the obligatory plot twist revealed at the very end that may take you by surprise.
Then again, it may not.

I found it similar to The International...competently acted and presented but not really anything you haven't seen before.
Think a higher class Law & Order episode, it's not painful to watch but instantly forgettable.

The iguana part was added so you would know it was a Klaus Kinski movie.I have let to figure out why the Nicholas Cage part was included though.

As for the scoffing at the unreality of State of Play vs All the President's Men ( which I agree is an infinity better movie) I have five words to say

Well yeah, there is that.
Robert Redford seems like a smart enough guy to pursue a puzzle though, so his casting wasn't totally off the wall.
In SOP Crowe does a lot of running around and I sort of wondered where they concealed the oxygen tanks he must have regularly needed.
Movie magic...

The producers clearly should have gone with Mark Wahlberg.

God I wish I had the trainer ( and money ) that could get me from this to this in 6 months.
