Re: What is the latest movie you watched and what did you think of it?
I recently saw Fish Tankhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt1232776/. I found it far more realistic and telling of the times than any of the "reality tv" crap that has been going around over the past few years. This is a British movie and I have to say they seem to be putting out some watchable films lately. Harry Brown was also worthy of a viewing...
The IMDB tag says something about 15 year old Mia's life suddenly changes when her mother gets a new boyfriend. While this is true, it only covers one facet of this movie's range. TBH, I had to give it a second though before watching it as I have come across too many American movies that have a similar plot line and FAIL to go any further. Fortunately, I found this movie more about starting life with strikes against you and the things we do to move forward. Something like that anyway.
I say give it a shot. It is at least a 7.5 and maybe deserves higher for having such a real, yet uncomfortable feel to it. There are a couple VERY uncomfortable parts, BTW.
Another one:
Just finished watching Let the Right One In http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/ . Very good, understated, yet powerful film. A conservative 8.5, IMO. It's a Swedish vampire movie that is more fantasy/drama than gore. The special effects are subtle, but used appropriately.

Sherlock Holmes- RDJ and some other people.
[disclaimer] I am firmly on Team Jeremy Brett and consider his Holmes the standard by which all others be judged. [/disclaimer]
Oh my, another "reimagining" of of a classic character.
In this case the reboot consists of amping up the 'sposhins, loud obtrusive music and grafting in the personal dynamics of Felix and Oscar from The Odd Couple.
Missing from this modern Holmes are all the characteristics that make him unique and interesting.
Guy Ritchie tried to graft the hyper intensity of his modern crime movies (Snatch, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, etc.) and Downey's Tony Stark and douse the whole thing with a bit of Olde England for flavor.
Couple this with a plot that depends on stage tricks that would embarrass David Blaine and what you get is at best, half baked.
And not in a good way.
Much like Public Enemies, I really wanted to like Sherlock Holmes but sadly, did not.
So much potential squandered by laziness and a blockbuster mentality.
State Of Play- blah, blah, Bill Nighy!, that guy from Wanted.
This is the BBC production that the recent film with Russell Crowe was based on and is superior in every way...what a surprise.
Not in the same league as Prime Suspect or Cracker, State of Play still displays the rich production values, great casting choices and careful script development that epitomize BBC halo productions.
This six episode series differs from an American production in that each episode is a full hour and there is no "Previously on..." recap at the beginning.
Each show begins right where the previous ended, so you'd better be paying attention or you'll be lost quickly.
State Of Play is an excellent six hour investment.
It has BillfuckinNighy in it.
Nuff said.

After viewing the trailers I couldn't bear to even attempt to watch it.Some things are meant to be overblown and others , as Holmes himself might obverse , are all in the details.
Interesting article here about the negative effect blockbusters have on smaller films ....not that anyone is interested

I watched Undead by The Spierigs the brothers behind the recent Daybreakers.Thought that it would be a lot better/more interesting than it was.
Total lack of sense and poor design/FX ( other than the gore) made me regret sticking with it to the end.
Some OK humour but more a direct copy of the type pioneered by Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson ( and used to greater effect in the much better Shaun of the Dead a movie that it clearly aspires to) than anything new.
All in all I'd recommend steering clear even if you are totally bored.

Seriously no one cares simply to hear what movie you watched just as no one cares what I watched, the fucking whole point ( read the fucking title ) is "what is your opinion of the fucking movie"?

I would tell you but since it's exclusive to that site, I'd have to kill you if I did.
