I installed my W98 drive into my XP machine and that's FAT32 and the XP drive is NTFS, and that works OK.

You can view FAT32 if you have Windows on NTFS, but not other way around.

so does this mean that i cant recoer my old files off my old hd?

use the original install disc to run windows repair

ok so if i install it internally it will work?because as of right now i have connected it externally and it does not reconize it.
