This may be my next move but for now Im completely happy with my DVP5982, but if it breaks or I get sick of it I think I want this
Re: DVD/Divx Player with USB
Seems to be a very novel device.
Not very highly reviewed though, due to quality issues. I would really be hesitant about ordering.
Re: DVD/Divx Player with USB
I just started reading those reviews myself, I think one of the reviews says it best "In general, the idea was good, but poorly executed." I have been having an issue with my HDD getting hot when I watch a movie from it also. I think I might just pick up an 8gig Flash drive or maybe even one of those big ones
Re: DVD/Divx Player with USB
While the idea of a DVD player with a USB port is a nice idea, I like my Dlink DSM320 media player better.
It's connected to my wireless network and includes a remote. I simply place downloaded movies/TV shows/music/photos into my
Media Server folder and view/listen to them on my TV.
I've got a Philips DVP642 but why waste blank DVDs(and my time) when I can view/listen to any media stored on my computer with the click of the remote?

While the drive could be used anywhere, the DVD player looks proprietary to the drive.
I mean the DVP5982 is at the most, $70, and a 500 gig drive can be had for $80-$100 if you shop. The 5982 is more versatile with the USB port imo.
Good find though.
