just finished but it didnt give me like a summary or anything....just said "Disc Check complete"
There should be a log file somewhere... probably in the root of the system drive - C:\
nopes nothing :(
and if i run chkdsk from dos....it makes a quick check and gives me 0 bad sectors....
Running from DOS only does a quick check, not thorough.
Try searching the computer for chkdsk and see if there's a log file in the same folder.
chkdsk.exe is located in system32 folder....but no log file there....
any other ideas?
OK, try this:
chkdsk E: /r
If you put that in the Run box it'll ask you if you want to unmount the volume (because Windows is using the drive), respond N and it'll as you if you want to schedule the drive to be checked during the next boot. Respond Y and reboot.
Do it last thing at night and leave it going cos it's gonna take a bloody long time.
k ill do that tonite...thx....
btw that program easyrecovery is VERY GOOD
Had exactley the same problem myself, and with a western digital too, In the end i stuck it as a slave on another machine, lost the partitrion though, even when i reformatted it came up as FAT 8!!! in the end i fdisked the whole damn thing and so far its been running fine. Lesson I learnt thiough is Backup regularly oh and don't buy WD seagate barracuda is probably one of the most robust
