yes, it is automatic if the file organizer is enabled. When a download is completed, KTool moves the file to a subfolder, then execute the specified program.
You can do the same using the internal File Organizer found in KL Extensions.

It didn't work buddy, in fact the crack that I d/loaded is infected.
IMHO, keeping Auto-Protect enabled at all times is the only bullet-proof solution. No matter how much it may dry your resources (and normally it shouldn't affect them much, except if you have a really slow PC), it is always better to be safe than sorry.
I run Norton Internet Security (which has also the firewall part), and I have seen numerous threats saved before they did damage (malicious mail attachments, virulent d/ls, etc.). I would suggest everyone does the same.
