Well, living at home with my family, surprisingly, the end stays clean. I suggest you either do as suggested and ensure the lid is firmly closed and wipe it with a tissue after each use. Failing that, lock your downstairs windows each night, never heard of a serial toothpaste end spoiler, but it might be happening. There's always proximity mines but after the 12th £25,000 restoration of your south facing wall, it becomes quite costly.
