I have 14 "Genre Folders" in my MP3s folder.
A rap folder, rock folder, videogame music folder, funny mp3s, anime music,etc...
These folders include sub folders.
For example, in my anime music folder, I have a Neon Genesis Evangelion folder, and instead of sorting the songs by album, I have every song for the series all in one folder.
Instead of the file looking like "Neon Gensis Evangelion- 01.- Rei 1
I make it look like this "NGE-Rei 1"
So, I organize my crap like that.
I could go on and on, but it'll take a while to explain how I organize all my mp3s....I wouldnt want to disclose that kind of info here anyway....
Basically, I make it so organized, that the folders are easy to navigate through.
C:\Music\"Artist Name"\"Album Name"\"MP3's
Thats the easiest way i have found to organize my music.
I've got two Music folders (due to hard drive size constraints). The first (main) folder is 77.8GB.
It's organised thus:
Music\0-M\Artist - Album Name and \N-Z\Artist - Album Name
The second folder is smaller (25GB) and is organised in exactly the same was as above :)
Using Orange for teh database, which dont get updated too often,
I dont DL so much music anymore, got pretty much what i need.
I got several HD's in 3 PC's full of stuff, not so well organized.
My shares are a little mess also, but im trying to keep them
as teh norm is in SS.
Im lazy and maybe someday i buy teh dvd-burner and
then maybe organise teh stuff better.
Maybe Babe.
:P
sorted like this, genre -> artist -> year/album title -> track list and covers etc
I just have iTunes set to automatically organize my music. The folders are separated by artist and then album.
I have all my music on a 1TB HD. I have folders for about 70 categories, then I have subcategories in some folders (not by genre, but by label for instance). I have two main folders: burned data and unburned. This way I always have my newer downloads in a separate folder.
I name my album folders all in the same manner: "Artist - year - Album", so I can quickly scan my music database for the album I want. VA (Various Artists, compilations) albums are named VA - Release name (year). It takes a bit of time to do it this way, but now I have a well organized collection, which is really necessary if you have a lot of music.
I rarely use any media library software, because I find my system handier to browse. No problem with 'conflicting' ID3 tags, eg. albums from one artist spread over a bunch of tags (AC/DC, AC-DC, ACDC, AC DC, ...) or various artists compilation albums in the albums list.
My music is under MP3 & Soundtracks folder. Of course every album/artist is under new folder.
