ROYGBV are the three primary colors with the three secondary colors in between.

R + Y = O
Y + B = G
B + R = V (aka Purple)

B + V = Indigo. it&#39;s a tertiary color so it really doesn&#39;t belong, but some people just throw the I in so it looks like a name: Roy G. Biv. prolly nothing at all to do with what country yer from... more likely just personal preference so it&#39;s easier to remember. but you&#39;re right, it is not technically correct.

Blu-ray, a comparitively new concept, employs a blue-violet laser, with its narrower wavelength of 405µm (as opposed to the 650µm of that of conventional DVD-V&#39;s red laser) – allowing for an absolute maximum of 50GB to be stored on BD media.

The pending HD-DVD standard, which remains yet to be verified, intends to implement a substantial extent of BD&#39;s specifications, however it remains dissimilar, in that: its numerical aperture is 0.65; it requires no protective housing; its dimensions prolong in being identical to that of DVD; it has a potential 30GB of storage capacity.

HD-DVD poses potential of being of success, taking into account the technology founding it.
