True.

I&#39;m getting a student loan which will take forever to pay back... :(

On the plus side I also get a grant because of my "poority" and all my student fees have been paid for. :01:

Plus I have a part-time job lined up. Which is nice.

No, 6th form is the equivilant of college, it&#39;s the same subjects/levels ;)

And uni, no plans for it because I don&#39;t see the point of not working for three/four/five years and coming out in loads of debt and still not being guaranteed a job.

I&#39;m intending on joining the police once i&#39;m 18 (this year) and in the mean time i&#39;m doing 6th form; partly because I quite enjoy it, and secondly, I don&#39;t need to get a job in the meantime (which doesn&#39;t even have a set minimum wage at my age <_< ) and I can have a good time with my mates.

Also, I&#39;m not going to Uni because I can&#39;t afford it. I couldn&#39;t afford to pay for everything myself and fit time in to have a job (good enough to pay for it all) and study enough to do well.

Do the Police Force you live in recruit at 18. Or are you joining as a civilian.

In Scotland I think it&#39;s 21 to be a constable.

Not 100% on this but:

18 to apply
18 1/2 to be instated (there&#39;s a 15 week training course before you can be instated anyway)
then there&#39;s a two year probationary period
then you&#39;re classed as a full copper and yuo can choose to specialise in whatever area

Up here it&#39;s 18 for a Cadet, which does not guarantee you get taken on as a Constable. The Cadet programme has only just started up again after a number of years.

21 before you can join properly. It may be something to do with the different legal systems.

I would check the website for your local force, just to make sure you can join. Do you know what force that is.

You will be chosen for a specialist area if you are suitable. You will not choose. Without being cynical, may I suggest rolling up your trouser leg etc. :lol: :lol:

JP It is eighteen to be a PC in Scotland. Although by the time you complete your training you are nearer 21.

Two year probationary period
One month training college, first year.
Three months training college, second year.
Ongoing local evening classes with exams at the end.
Ongoing &#39;street and traffic&#39; supervision.


P.S. being a good golfer also helps. :lol: :lol:
