it doesnt, some websites are paranoid, and want to keep their site alive as long as they can, some dont like trading and thats fine, but what they dont know cant hurt them

Trading is good.
It encourages good sites to become better (and bad sites to become worse - shshhhhhh!)

Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
First of all its in the Terms of Service of the sites your banned from, sec All the sites you have been banned form have a policy against Account and invite trading in public forums.
Read the rules and FAQ's just for once.
Everytime you trade a account do you know who is on that account from that time on?
No you dont, it could be anyone with good intention and bad.
It could be FBI or DOD anything, thats why sites dont allow it for example.
If you want to Trade invites/Account on a public forum ask the staff if its allowed yes or no, if not dont do it.

Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
Where to start.. well it's going to be a long one..so sit comfy folks.
First, jrmyolvr, has been caught and suspected of cheating on almost all sites he's a member of. Proof? Sorry, You'll have to take my word on this one, as I won't post Private convos. But, it is true. With the matter of cheating, would anyone here really want a used account that's suspected of cheating to get banned for the prior owner ? I really don't think many do. I know I wouldn't.
Second, as jrmyolvr here has wanted to post and warn others to beware, think for a second.... don't you all think that staff and other members of sites don't do the same for their own communities to keep them safe?? Everyone does it. It's called "Being loyal", and it's not a bad thing to be called.
It was a matter of time that he'd be caught by ANYONE...so pointing the blame and ranting rude remarks at one person, was a waste of type.
Third, why is trading accounts bad? Many reasons, it's hard for staff on sites, to distinguish members with two or more different ips. Sometimes an innocent member could be banned for such things as the prior person was cheating. I also tend to use the same nick everywhere I go, so I wouldn't want anyone else using my nick, or making me look bad. You may not know "who" you are trading with, as mentioned it could be authorities. It could be anyone. If people keep using careless tactics like this, there will be no more sites for anyone. If jrmyolvr traded his account to a member of the mpaa, and got several sites closed, I think you'd all be calling HIM the names instead tonight, for being the cause of one of your fave sites going down.
When a person signs up to a site, they enter into a contract type thing. Where they agree to abide by rules, keep a good ratio, yadda yadda, If you want out of that contract, giving an account to someone else is not really the way to do so. The thing is, that "contract" is between YOU, and the SITE, not jimslim, or bob, or joe. Breaking your end of the agreement can and in most cases will result in a ban. I'd say about 98% of site owners and staffers do not tolerate account trading. Hence why when it was found out that jrmyolvr was quickly banned from many of his accounts. (Word travels fast)
jrmyolvr, you shouldn't be so pissed at someone for something YOU did. It's YOUR fault you broke the rules and got caught. Nuget or whoever else that may have seen this thread were not the ones breaking the rules, that was You buddy.
Lastly, I know many of you are pals or friends of jrmyolvr, but if you think for a moment of what his actions have done, or might have done, from a different point of view, Pretend if you must that you are a staff of a site, and this guy is a danger to your site being demolished... I'm sure most of you would react the same way in banning the guy.
It only takes ONE bad trade, or even an invite, to lose it all. That's not worth it in my opinion :)

Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
Firstly. Of course wyldvixen is gunna defend a fellow "community rep" ... would you suspect anything else?
Secondly: You say you have proof of my cheating sites but dont want to post private convos? please PM me these convos you claim to have as I am interested in what convos your referring to.
third: private convos can be doctored in any way ppl feel the need to make them seem like they are in the right, so not really proof of anything.
Fourth: If ppl think Iam a cheater nothing I can say will make them change their mind. For those who have stood behind me on this matter and believe what I am saying to be true, thank you, your support is appreciated.
Fifth: this is the last I will address this matter so have a nice life everyone and just be careful who your making trades with. You never know when they might "narc" you out to the sites admins.
Bye and have a good life!

Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
about the "Third, why is trading accounts bad?" part i only want to say.. by the private sites making it so hard for the so called noob to join, they have made a rod for their own backs cos every noob wants to join the rare *** sites just because its so hard to get in.
why is trading accounts happening?
because the invites arent there?
the sites are full?
shouldnt this be a question for the site owners to find a answer to, not the user? :dabs:
-
Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
we have to show proof wen or if we accuse sme1 of cheating then y not u? if he was then its is own fault ,ill wait n c b4 i pass judgement. but as 4 loyalty goes wheres urs to fst members where u also work even wen folks giveaway invites the men in blue are sat in threads watching n the next thing u lose ur invites ,at the end of the day u cant sit on 2 fences, this is invite section maybe reality needs to change his staff

Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
Sorry jrmyolvr, I'm not defending anyone. I'm posting on experience. (4 years in a staff position continuously on various sites). I know the damage that these things can cause, as I've seen it with my own eyes.
When ET went down, the guy that let fbi use his account, even had the nerve to sit in the IRC channel for two days to watch everything unfold without saying anything, before he was known and banned.
No, I will NOT post info regarding private matters. Especially to a person that can't abide by rules. Staff here at FST have access to that info. It's in their hands as to what to do with you next, if anything on here.
If you only knew what goes on behind the scenes, if you were only part of it, you'd know what I was talking about, and know that nothing was doctored. So please, don't talk about things you don't know.
@ Alien5, you raise a good question, Why is trading happening? Greed I think plays a big part in it. Getting what you want as fast as you can anywhere you can get it. Another reason, could be simply a person doesn't use the account, and simply wants to help someone out.
No one has a problem with people sharing, or helping others, but there are too many bad people out there that are, like viruses, spreading bad things around and infecting sites. This is the main reason why sites don't allow this type of account trading, and always warn people to be careful of who you invite. It's to protect it's current members from being infected or affected by these people.
I know on my own personal level, I'd rather be a part of a community, that looks out for it's members. That actually care for them. I wouldn't want to be a part of a site that if i had a problem and had to pm a staff member and they replied back "tough shit .. live with it!" I'm sure that most of you would want to be on a good site as well. Feeling safe and secure.
-
Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
Personally I dont care, ban me if you must. I wont cry about being banned from one board on the entire net (lol) but that would just prove that I was right all along and the admins of FST just want to shut me up the easiet way they can, but it wont shut me up as I will make it know to all potential invite traders about ppl like nuget who are out to ruin something that is perfectly OK.
I dont disagree that some bad things have come of trading invites but if traders do research on the person b4 they trade with them, for example look at their ratios at other sites I think for the most part trading brings more good users to these sites then bad.
Again I said it once and ill say it again, this is ABSOLUTLY POSITIVLY FOR SURE THE LAST TIME ILL ADDREESS THIS MATTER.
Im tired now, must sleep.... :D
later all, you know where to find me i you want me :)

Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
Let's keep things simple...if you're on a private tracker with no invites or accounts trading in public forums policy, choose: stay on this site and follow the rules or move on...If you're in my house, you do what I tell you to do or you're out...

lol EXACTLY
thanks for saying the short version of what I've been saying, Xsensei.
and yep, think of it that way if you want a real life scenario.
Party going on, house full of friends.. one guy is drunk and knocking things over, breaking them, he's trying to get his hands on your music cd collection, hitting on your girlfriend, and her best friend, drinking YOUR beer. Friends are complaining about him.... so out he goes.
Then you are left with a happy crowd of friends and no hassles :)
Party On!

Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
lol nice comparison WyldVixen.
Looks like the Invite Section will be bombarded by new users only now since the Alumni's will be more cautious to post anything. Staff is everywhere now.
Where's RealitY?

Wow.... this thread rly HAS gotten long ^_^'' i dunno... wouldn't it be more simple/easy if they just banned account trading on these forums? i mean i know its a bit of a shame but i don't think there's gonna be much account trading going on with the forums being watched...
and no-one is really to blame... i mean even if nuget leaves these forums someone is bound to continue "Snitching" in the shadows....

Re: Warning: Be Careful What You Offer To Trade Here!!!
jrmyolvr Sorry about your situation dude. Why can't you post the sites you were banned from? I do agree with both sides as this is a touchy subject. Okay rules are rules fair enough, but this is the real world we live in and guess what...people break rules all the time. Trading is going on all the time do we really need rats and snitches here? The way I see is FST staff wouldn't really want that as if word gets out that members here snitch on people trading their membership and participation will go down because people are too affraid of getting banned for trading here. Right?
@ Nugget... well dude I can never abide a rat in the house ever. I can see where you are coming from with the whole people work hard on these sites thing, but c'mon bro to be a fuckin rat. Really now as long as no one was cheating the site why do you care if he traded the acct. Isn't it better someone use the acct than it simply lay idle? Why do you take it so personally? Also PP is peerportal? if so it's a great site. but I DO NOT agree with you ratting the man out for any reason sorry man it is a crappy thing to do to someone else. Im from Brooklyn, NY guess what we do to rats here:01:

It only takes ONE bad trade, or even an invite, to lose it all. That's not worth it in my opinion :)
You're a fuckin idiot man.
All the shit you just mentioned as reasons for not trading accounts to or for other sites is irrelevant. It is at our own discretion that we trade accounts, and obviously, we should know what we're getting ourselves into. Yes, we'll probably encounter a few people that were cheating their ratios in order to trade a power user account, or the tracker won't be able to distinguish between two ips, if the old one isn't flushed already or whatever. So ban account traders if these situations occur, don't ban them for trading.
As for "in order to keep communities alive", well, the reason people trade accounts is likely because they have no use for it, and another person does, as the old saying goes "one man's trash is another man's treasure". i.e., the new account owner is likely to have reasonable use for the newly acquired tracker and is going to continue to download/upload the torrents from the site.
So yeah, you're a fucking idiot with your shitty ass rationale. Go to hell.
